I'm making it tomorrow for a book club meeting.

what to serve with it?
ice-cream?
fruit?
something a little more creative?

and squish up some of the fruit so the juices run into the cake.

well if I do fruit, it'd most likely be canned. esp. with something like strawberries and blueberries.

You can still get perfectly decent blueberries! The strawberries looked kind of sad at safeway today though. Blueberries and some whipped cream foreever. Angel food cake is my favorite cake, along with carrot.

whether they're decent or not, they're still gonna be expensive in the off season, and I'm on a tight budget.

I've never been so thrilled with angel food cake, but after making it, I don't think I'll ever enjoy it again. it's basicly a load of egg whites and sugar ....and cream of tarter. lots of cream of tarter. It kind'a made me sick in the end.
but then again, I tend to do that with things--when I've spent too much time making it, I no longer have any interest in eating it.

That's why you make it from a cake mix!

the whole point of it was to use the recipie that was in the back of the book that we read for our book club.
besides, I don't like using box mixes very much. I only ever use them for muffins and brownies because they're fast and I usually need them right away.

agreed.
if it's not moist i'd do for some melting vanilla ice cream on it though.

we have it for all of our birthdays (mom, dad, bro, and me) with home made strawberry whipped cream. you get the frozen strawberry shit and put it in with whipped cream and whip the cream. (duh)
