Ya its like the same old "AC/DC are definately going to play Slaine this year" and the next thing you know, its madonna or some just as septic...I had a ticket for witness 3years when Zwan were ment to play and of coarse they broke up (thank God now!) so I thought well sure at least White Stripes are playing. Next thing jack breaks his thumb so it was probably the greatest money wasting festival Ive attended..ill believe Pumpkuns are in the line put when I see it on the Oxygen website..

Oh btw, are you in Cardiff?? Its pretty cool...Dont suppose you know where I could get one of them gold dusted tickets for The six nations next weekend...either way, Ive 8 friends coming so there will be alot of

What do you study?

I'm from Dublin(oh moe you rascal)

I don't live in Cardiff at the mo but am looking into moving to wales for uni bs

ouch to the white stripes, did they offer refunds?

Mr Potato Head

Dublin??....ya big scumbag!!...ah no only coddn...Leitrim man myself so no traffic lights, smallest population, bogs and floods etc etc!

I can guarentee you would like Cardiff...Its very much like Galway. Its alot nicer than London or even Dublin..people are friendly and its alot CHEAPER but that wouldnt be hard.

Aer arann do flights to cardiff but they have no competition so they rob us blind...

As regards refund for Witnness as it was back then...refunds? not a notion,,,it was such a balls, but of coarse when you come home you have to tell your mates it was class!

I'm in First year of Occupational therapy and Cardiff University has a very good reputation for it...I did three years in Sligo IT & took a year out before coming here..change is allways good....what do you want to do in college here and I might be able to get some info for ya...

Pft i'm living in meath right now <\3

Oh i've been to Cardiff many times and do <3 it

Oh i know aer arann are cunts but! take cardiff train to bristol (5 pound return) and get a cheap ryanair flight you're sorted. I go to cardiff on thursday and that's how i'm getting there.

no refund, lousy! it was one of the main attractions

I've done an ordinary degree in journalism and figure go on bring it to an honours and then a masters in journo/english lit. Tbh i just looked at glamorgan because i have a friend in the area but really should try cardiff as well.

Did you have to do a personal statement, if so any tips?

Mr Potato Head
01-30-2007, 08:00 AM
Oh right, youve a fair idea of the place so....Ya I was wondering about the nearest airport that does flights so I could get cheaparse ryanair flights...Coarse they rape in other areas like baggage but theyre definately not as bad and their planes aren't powered by two lawn mower engines.

Ya i Had to do a personal statment alright for the UCAS form plus get a reference from a lecturer. I'm not sure what way you are going to go about it because, the closing date for me last year was Jan 15th..I think you can still apply but you will be classed as a late entry or something.

Well I did Health Science in Sligo (3year ordinary degree too) and we has alot of group work in practicals..the course was 50/50 between theory and practical. I then took a year out....what started as a student summer job became my job for the year round because I couldnt have been arsed trying to find something in my line...Kinda had to take the year out caus the auld lass was sick. Basically, I just tried to relate what I had done to what I had read up about the course and Occ Therapy. most therapists work in a group setting. I worked In Masonite Ireland (that big big factory in leitrim as you pass between Dromod and Carrick on Shannon thats puffing out "steam" all the time) I was part of a team on a shift there...so I just waffled about my responsibility to the group at work, in my practicals in college (done in groups of 4) and the various responsibilities I had to undertake. I also talked a bit about personal expierence looking after the auld lass and my elderly granny...You just gotta build everything up to sell yourself...plenty of potato waffle like what I'm doing now!

A good idea would be to get the Universitys to email you shit on what they do in eng lit and the breakdown of the course..I have a cousin who did OT in canterbury but insisted I come to Cardiff instead as it has a good reputation for OT..hence why I'm here....Its like when you are filling out the CAO form and you are told by your teachers dont go somewhere just cause all your friends are there!!! I didnt no anyone over here but its grand if you have any gift of the gabb at all...different, but grand....

So are you coming over for the weekend or what....some serious beering going to be done Sunday....I think the plan of action is to camp in Oneills for the day...Thats the only day I can afford...lads are coming over friday morning till tuesday...Ill be one of the few long haired lads wearing an Irish jersey if your about on the day for a beer

Hope thats some useful useless info btw my email is: alanrwly@yahoo.co.uk for future reference..bit odd writing all this shit on a pumpkins message board..

I read Snow Patrol are headlining Oxegen. They were described as 'Rock heroes' in the newspaper yesterday. Are they havin' a laugh?

Egg fucking sackly my friend...play it safe milky tea music like Coldplay. It really irrates me when Radio Djs get a horn about the 'best song for them of the year'...chasing cars...Basically Run was such a success, they just rehashed the same sort of shite to have everyone licking their holes again....
Did you see the line-up for Coachella????? Who ever ends up headlining Oxygen, e.g. Snow patrol, it will look like a muppet show compared to that..when will they get some decent music at that gig..:wall:

i saw snow patrol last year, at pukkelpop. didn't really went watching the show, but i was in the background, sitting on a bench and having a drink, because there wasn't really much to do at that time.

funny thing was that their instruments didn't make it to belgium (troubles at the airport, just like pete doherty haha). so they couldn't play their regular show. two of them found an acoustic guitar and quickly prepared a short acoustic set. wasn't bad.

Hey man, you've probably already heard this, but the big acts confirmed for Oxegen are Muse, Snow Patrol, Daft Punk, Scissor Sisters, Razorlight, My Chemical Romance, Arcade Fire and Amie Winehouse.

I'm very tempted to go myself, though I'm considering getting a yicket for Electric Picnic too. No bands have been announced, but it's the kind of festival the Pumpkins might play. Is Slane going ahead this year?

I've been a fan of the Pumpkins since 1995, but the closest I've ever gotten to seeing them live was Jimmy's gig in The Village. A bill with the Pumpkins, Muse, Pearl Jam, White Stripes and the Scissor Sisters would be absolutely killer (in my opinion anyway! - I like my ambisexual singers. And Eddie Vedder.).

Here's to the Pumpkins hopefully playing Ireland this year! :)

Ai, but on his mother's or father's side? Or both?

Suede
02-24-2007, 07:03 PM
Ohh his father. Isn't the surname Corgan Irish?

from wikipedia
Corgan is the oldest son of William Corgan Sr. and Martha Louise Maes Corgan Lutz.

Cobain's father was Irish, his mother German. :)

Cornell is Irish too.

Ambrose
02-24-2007, 07:10 PM
To tell you the truth, I have never heard that surname on anybody except Billy (and his dad obviously). It's not Irish as far as I know. Unless it's derived from Corrigan or O' Corrigan. Hmm, some research will have to be done. I don't know about Maes either...

Haha, I knew about Cobain, but not Cornell. Interesting! :)

His Irish Catholic parents are Ed Boyle (a pharmacist) and Karen Cornell (an accountant).

I don't know about Maes either...
Maes is Belgian.
Billy has mentioned he has a grandmother who (or who's father, I can't remember) immigrated from Belgium.

Suede
02-25-2007, 09:39 AM
so Lutz is Belgian?

No, not that I know. Lutz sounds more like a German name.
