View Full Version : Street Fighter II Thread - Who did you use back in the day?

Hi There, Am Pam

My friends & I used to play the fuck out of this game. I remember thinking Dhaslm was the best because his limbs were so long. Then I moved onto Zangief because of the wrestling, and eventually Guile.

Once the newer version came out, I think I finally decided on Cammy, but I always move around. Vega is also pretty kick ass. One thing I know, Balrog really sucks.

I'm guessing you bought it for you wii eh? i did too. i remembered being easier back in the day, now i can barely even beat vega. sagat is a whole different story.

i used to play with Honda. i loved his super fast punches.

Yup, I miss the SNES controller. Vega was always the hardest, IMO. Bison was close, but the way the computer uses Vega's leg when jumping makes it very frustrating. Sagat would be nothing without his "tiger uppercut" and whatnot. Whenever you fight him, all you hear is "Tiger! Tiger! Tiger uppercut!"

I think I need to start shouting things when I work.

When I wanted to win - Ryu.
When I wanted to showboat - Cunt Li

I imagine you can use these, if you can use the GameCube controller for it then you will.

Looks pretty close to the real thing, except for button placement. Still, if you could find a used one cheap, it would probably be well worth it. The classic controller just does not seem worth it, from what I've read.

The price is a bit high, but for $19, you can get a plug converter (http://www.retrousb.com/wii.html) for the SNES or NES. But I'll wait until other knock-offs hit the market and the price drops.

the PS2 controller is brilliant for SNES and Genesis gaming. That is what I completed Chrono Trigger, Shadowrun, Terranigma, Secret of Mana etc on.

i own a classic controller and you're right it isnt worth it.

the wire coming from the bottom of the controller always gets in the way when im playing...i mean, who's genius idea was to put it down there? i really dont see any benefits. also there really isnt any grip due to the anolog sticks they added. it's just an oval shaped controller. id have to play for a bit before the feel of the controller sinks in. i dont think i'll ever get used to it completely.

do you know when the adapter will be released?

I remember long lines to play the Arcade version of this game. I was definitely a Blanka man, and I had the most trouble with Guile. That fucking flash kick got me every time.

I liked MKII better. :-o

I believe it's already available. I tried loading it into the shopping cart, and it has $6 shipping on the first controller you buy. Way overpriced. There is no way it costs $6 to ship something that light.

Me too. When i was younger, i created a little art project based on MKII.
It was a scene created out of paper that fit into a shoebox, so if you sat it down on its, you could see two characters on each side and the sewer background. In the middle, hung "fatality" sign.

Something along the line of this, but MKII related and a lot better:

I used to dislike Ken for being cocky, but would say I prefer him to Ryu now! I liked Guile too. Blanca was okay, but the electricity move isn't infallible, and other than that he's average. I liked Vega, the fence climb was handy.

Yeah, Blanca vs. Chun Li was always a blood bath.

Vega was the shit. He had the longest reach, and if you were good with him, you could kick everyone's ass (i guess you could say that about almost all of them though, except Balrog). He was more of a defensive player. The sky drops and arial claws were awesome.

What a pimp.

I remember not liking Street Fighter II that much, just because I thought Mortal Kombat was a lot better.

the mortal kombat "gore" makes me lol now.

I bought mortal kombat deception, but it is actually less fun in 3D

I loved the fatalities, babalities etc in the early mortal kombats

Guys, I still love this game. I played the hell outta the Genesis versions and I have the Xbox Live version for the 360. Ryu is just the strongest fighter in pretty much every situation. Guile was strong, too, but somehow I always felt like the underdog when I was playing with Guile... even if I kicked ass. Playing against people online is really frustrating because the tiniest bit of inevitable lag ruins my hard-earned split-second reactions.

Also, I really like Fei Long.

Nak Nak

Fei Long was probably my fave stylistically.

Whenever i played as Akuma Vs. Ryu, I always won, but I understand that we're straying from the game here.

i've always liked to use either Chun Li or Ken.

I remember once beating the game on hard with every character. That was a fucking challege, especially with Dhasalm and Zangief.

I've always been a Ryu fan, but as the later SFs came out, I have gravitated more towards Akuma.

The guy's a badass - He embraces all the killing elements of Ansastuken that his older brother (Gouken) wouldn't teach to Ryu and Ken. Challenges him to a fight, wins and kills him. Then he interferes in the final bout of the tounament in SFII, and kills M. Bison. Just because he could, and just to see how good he is.

I'm a bit of a show off too, so I always finish people off with the Shun Goku Satsu.

shit son...back in the day? I still rock that shit out. I play it with my friends for drinks.

elimination style..but I'm handicapped since I pretty much pwn with everyone..particularly Ryu,Balrog,Sagat,Bison,Chun Li,Ken....everyone but Guile..my Guile is shitty as hell..fuck Guile.

I'm repping DHALSIM. I'm a pretty good Dhalsim - it's all about sliding under those crappy fireballs, keeping people a long-ass way away, and the YOGA NOOGIE.

E HONDA!!!

The slaps did it for me. Oh & that flying butt pliers move, which would reappear in Ren & Stimpy years later was also pretty cool.

My fave street fighter games were street fighter alpha 2 & 3. I can't remember who I usually used, but I do remember that my best friend always played as Sakura.

In virtua fighter I usually play as Lion Rafale or Lei Fei.
