British teams in Euro comps this season

Is it just me or are they all doing unexpectedly well?

Currently:

Chelsea top of group A, above Barca
Liverpool top of group C, above PSV
Man U and Celtic, 1 and 2 in group F (not the strongest group admittedly)
Arsenal top of group G, above Porto

and UEFA cup
Rangers, group A top (crappy group tho)
Tottenham, group B top (not the easiest group)
Blackburn, group E top
Newcastle, group H top.

did Europe get cheapened or something?

All of those teams (apart from Chelski) avoided the real heavy hitters like Valencia, Inter, AC, Bayern, Lyon etc. I'd expect all of them to qualify.
