I thought it was that hideous red suit too but I didn't think James was an outfit repeater....esp since that suit came from his other life that he doesn't want to be reminded of. Really who wears red suits? He needs to call Wayne Coyne for tha name of his tailor.

Lately I'm really starting to question the state of his mind.

Kinda like when Britney Spears was wolfing down cheetos and going out braless...everyone was concern.

If he busts out the striped t-shirts and chops his hair off we can start calling the men in the white suits :O

"JAMES IT IS NOT 1994; YOU ARE NOT YOUNG AND HIP; YOU NEED HELP."

"Noooo I heard Soundgarden on the radio and everyone was digging it, nooo!"

"JAMES IT IS OVER."

"Nooooooooo....!"

Will and I spent a good fifteen minutes talking about this last night (Will was drunk, so he has an excuse). And about all of James's deep-seated insecurity issues. We should a write a book, which would prompt him to sue us :O And then I could make fun of him in court! :O

Nah. That suit is from 2000 . . . and he didn't go bleach blonde again until AFTER the Pumpkins broke up. Let me stare at it longer. I'll get back to ya :D

A whole fifteen minutes.....aren't you lucky! No one would hear me talk about James or the Pumpkins for more than a second. That's where you guys come in :grouphug: Also with the way James acts these days...I rather be a closeted fan.

What was Will's thoughts of the insecurity issues? It's always interesting to hear a guy's perspective. What has James gotta be insecure about? He has a comfortable life. He has a career. He dates. If he wants more in life ...being scene won't help.Common sense will tell you that.
What are your theories?

I think the cover of the book should be this recent picture and title...hmmm 'Help me.I'm inside'

Here Kendra....a better picture to stare at...

Haha :D Well we met on this board so . . . . :O

Let's see. We said he's obviously a talented man, however he seems to lose faith in himself quite easily (compared to Billy Corgan, who puts on the air of having a helluva lot more guts - even though we all know that man is fucked beyond belief in his head.) Take LICD...didn't sell so well, but many SP fans liked it - and he even made some fans that didn't care for the Smashing Pumpkins. So fast forward to 2000 - he says he's working on something, to several people. Says it will be out soon. Hm. The band breaks up, we hear nothing. And now he's doing all this random shit, with Swedes, doing covers of songs from the 70's (his stuff is just as good! shit man!), with no direction. Fine, but why in the hell would a guy in his late 30's with the gifts he's been given spend most of his time hipstering it up in NYC? I don't even give a shit if he's in the public eye, but at least do something worthwhile man. Be a teacher. Paint a painting. Go back to producing, go back to finding more great music. It seems like he's never really found himself and he doesn't have enough energy to try anymore. He looks fucking old and half-drunk and cranky. MID.LIFE.CRISIS.

I'll be handing out free PhDs to anyone who wants them D:

You used to be able to say "My favorite artist is James Iha" and the guy behind that statement really was an artist . . . and he was genuinely likeable, even if he wasn't the most brilliant talent on the streets. Then there's THIS dude hanging around lately - what the?

That's so sweet. The pumpkins brought you guys together :)

God Kendra you made so many fine points that I don't even know where to start. In essence...I agree with all that you and Will said. What I didn't realize before was the lack of faith. James didn't say much about LICD after it came out.I mean after say 2001 no one asked him if he was coming out with another album.Or made a comment...blalbla.I guess it must be a blow to his ego even though I'm sure he has random people going up to him saying great album. It's not necessarily Nick Drake material....but he does have an ear for melodies and adds nuances that made it a James experience.

Everytime I hear Ivy's Back in our town....I think that's the kind of collabration James should be doing. You hit it right on the head....'do something worthwhile'. That is exactly what he should be doing. He has so many great experiences that can be built upon for something greater....but he chose the easy path. It's so cliche. Most of the things he does isn't inspirational or 'organic'. He has abandoned his roots and sometimes I wonder why do I even stick around?

You used to be able to say "My favorite artist is James Iha"

This should be my sig....really.hehe

Hahaha...well now I feel harsh posting all that. I don't know if it's necessarily important to "find yourself." It's probably pretty overrated. I just wish he wasn't lame, cos I know he has it in him to be totally cool and awesome ;D

Chrysantheme
11-21-2006, 03:44 PM
I wish James exteriorized all his anger and frustration and lack of confidence in a primal scream therapy / death metal / punk / gangsta rap record that would be quite complementary to LICD. :\

Too bad he's not a good screamer!

Chrysantheme
11-21-2006, 05:55 PM
Well I guess it is a matter of taste, in my humble opinion James Iha, Mister James Iha is the best screamer ever. I was going to suggest a classical "COME ON, YOU MOTHERFUCKERS" or "RAAOH" but your title is terrific, too!

Yes Kendra we'll sit back and watch James unfold his magical ways....we shouldn't be so harsh on him...until the next Halloween costume.Kidding.

Oh yes. His screams. He does have a distinct yelp. Improvising on rap songs as b-sides.It could work.

Oh yeah sure, I definitely agree, what a jerk. He almost ruins the video. Well, almost. That is why I wasn't sure about posting the link a while ago, but come on, this is the proof James could possibly rise from his ashes. That wasn't totally screaming at its best, like in Firestarter or anything, let's face it, but that can be considered as a first step to underground & rock rehabilitation. Like someone said back in the 90's, I want to believe.

hahaha.....I wanna say the scarf totally ruins the outfit. It looks like some left over streamers at a bad flan party.

I think I might be losing it cause I actually find James hot here. Please don't question my judgment.I blame the cheekbones by the way. Found the pic on America's myspace.Any of you guys gonna get the album when it comes out? The tracks so far sounds quite nice.
