Anybody else here watch them? Or, at least have one that they watch almost everyday and love?
I'm really into "As The World Turns" I've been watching it since I was a child. I've been extremely hooked for the past few years though because (like the loser I am) I have a crush on one of the characters.
The only problem is..I keep hearing these rumors that the show is going to be cancelled in '07, even though it's been on CBS since the 50's. That is such bullshit and I am *so* mad.
I would cry if I didn't get to pine for Trent Dawson AKA Henry Coleman anymore. So freaking sad. Yes. :(
So, for the girls here who like soap operas..
Which one is your favorite?
How long have you been watching?
Do you have a favorite character or a character that you think is muy sexy?

Heck yes, General Hospital. I've been watching since the early '90s. I record it every day and watch it during dinner.
As for muy sexy, I go through phases with new characters but at the moment I don't care.

I've stopped watching Eastenders now. It's stupid.
i watch Hollyoaks if I'm ever up for a laugh. The acting/scripts are just poor.

If you want stupid soaps just try to find "passions" somewhere on the internet. Gah, it's so dumb. :(

Neighbours and Hollyoakes everyday, pretty much.
If I'm in and doing nothing, I'll catch Eastenders. I haven't really watched it though since May time.

I only watch one soap. I'm a young & the restless fan. I've been watching since I was little (my mother watches it religiously). I don't have a favorite character. I don't watch it everyday either. But I do keep up with the storylines.

Nah, I haven't seen it since about 1996. Proper old skool.
It clashes with The Simpsons, and it isn't as kitsch or camp as neighbours.
The neighbours/simpsons/hollyoakes run in the week is perfect viewing for when I get in from work. I can switch off, sit back, and relax.

haha! see, i've got around that. it goes: neighbours, simpsons, hollyoaks, and then flick over to fivelife to catch the first look at home and away. quite the television marathon.

That some epic television viewing!
I hope they don't ever change the tv schedules at this time. I would be well lost and confused.
PS - They're gonna shoot some neighbours episodes over here.

I watch Eastenders when I can. I've never liked Corrie or Home and Away or Hollyoaks. I'm such a geek when it comes to Neighbours. I even look up the Australian episodes to see what's happening 5 months ahead. I know what's going to happen with Sky and the baby! :O:O:O
And, Ciona, I too used to love Sunset Beach :(
I haven't watched Neighbours in aaages! I used to love it though. I've been watching Hollyoaks recently, though not this week, my job will probably see me off watching it.

I should start buying Soap Opera Weekly. I was browsing through it in the line at the store tonight and they had a sexy picture of Trent Dawson in there. I was like "YAY!"
Too bad the book was like $4.50 and I was broke as a joke. :cry:

You should decidedly NOT start buying Soap Opera Weekly! :hate: Not only is it full of crap ads and spoilers, but you can actually use this nifty service called Google (http://images.google.com/imghp?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wi&q=) to look up pictures of people you fancy. :-*

When I was around 12-13ish I used to watch Young & the Restless and Bold & the Beautiful religiously during the summertime. I haven't kept up with the storylines since then...do you remember:
Y&R
* Victoria gettin' her groove on w/ Ryan and then crying about it
* Victoria marrying Ryan when she was only 16
* Ryan being a douche
* Victor and Ashley
* Victor and Hope
* Victor and Nikki (always)
* Jack Abbott, JR being a fug
* Jack hating Jill
* Phyllis, WOW a great bitch!
* Brad. And then Brad being in the Zest commercials, wtf.
* John Abbott and his perfume company . . . Jabot. LOL
* John's wife being evil . . .? Oh yeah, it was Phyllis.
* Christine being called "Cricket"
* Christine being in love w/ Danny Romalotti. and marrying that Paul guy who was a fug
* Christine wearing a wire to try and catch evil attorney Michael in some crazy scheme
* Neil saying he had burned by Drucilla one too many times
* Drucilla's sister Olivia being a very boring character; but her boyfriend was hot.
B&B
* Ridge being a douche and trying to decide between Brooke & Taylor?
* "Forrester Designs" or whatever
* The birth of Bridgett / Brigett / whatever?
* Brooke being married to Eric?
* Thorne and Macy and Macy being a huge drama queen in general
* Macy's mom being very scary
Shhiiiitttt and there's more but it's scary that I remember that since it was all about 10 years ago.
I think now the only "soaps" I watch are more like series TV shows. House, Gilmore Girls, etc.
I used to watch a lot of Neighbours. I've never been a Home & Away fan really.
I also watched "Breakers" which was a very entertaining short-lived Australian TV soap set around Bondi Beach. It RULED :(

BUMP!
I started watching General Hospital and it's spinoff 'Night Shift'
...and I am hopelessly in love with the character of Damien Spinelli.
He said the funniest thing to Jason after losing his virginity..and then thinking he was becoming a sex addict. He said 'SEX IS BETTER THAN ORANGE SODA AND BARBEQUE CHIPS' :lol:
best soap quote ever!

The Spinelli and Lulu thing reminds me so much of Katie and Henry on 'As The World Turns'
Geeky guy is best friends with and secretly in love with a slutty blonde.
But, it's fun to watch.
Next week Spin's supposed to find out who his father is. I cannot wait! I'm really wondering if his daddy is Sonny. But, it would be kind of a cool plot twist (but probably impossible) if we find out his dad is Luke! Because, then it would be...'SURPRISE! DAMIEN SPINELLI. YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH YOUR SISTER!' :lol:
But, yeah...I'm completely obsessed with GH now. It's such a better soap than the rest of them.

you guys, i used to religiously watch Passions when i was 13, rofl. Me and my best friend at the time used to watch it while talking on the phoen together every afternoon, and we'd sing the theme song together. Then when the show was on we'd be silent, then during commercials we'd discuss. omg so fun!
I also used to like to watch Days of Our Lives and i almost bought the soundtrack to that.
Paul started kate and i getting into Hollyoaks, grrrr! Last thing i needed was another show to be addicted to ;o but i can't find it online anymore so i'm outta the tiny loop i was in.
I love how into soaps Englies are, esp for guys - you'd never find that here. And the fact that hot, straight guys (paul) religiously watch them is so cute. It's also cute when people in general watch their soaps everyday, idk why but it is.

I admit, I watch Passions more than GH now. /shame
It's just such ridiculous-ass fun. Loves it.
Kelly your av is skeering me :O hehe
GH usually doesn't do the whole "I'm in love with my sister" a la Whitney & Chad. But that sure would be funny.
And I agree, it is bettar than the rest. :heart: Even if I don't watch it anymore.

Oh, and another GH thing. SOAPnet has classic episodes rerunning every Sunday night from 10pm-12am EST.
They are going to rerun the one where Stone Cates dies on Nov. 29th. I watched that on Youtube and bawled my fucking eyes out.
When I was around 12-13ish I used to watch Young & the Restless and Bold & the Beautiful religiously during the summertime. I haven't kept up with the storylines since then...do you remember:

I think now the only "soaps" I watch are more like series TV shows. House, Gilmore Girls, etc.
i remember all these things, as my mom has watched these show religiously since before i was born... sadly, nothing has changed...
jack and paul are still fug
victor has had many wives but always goes back to nikki
victoria married brad and maybe some others and is now preg with his baby but dating brads daughters ex (creepy)
christine hasnt been on the show in years
olivia and drew and malcolm all left the show to pursue real acting, but drew and neil reunited yet again until she got killed off... their deaths were mysterious enough to allow them to return when they realize they have no real acting career. well malcolm did get some real success.
jack still hates jill and is in control of jabot now since john died (who comes back in ghost form to tell jack what a horrible person he has become)
phillis is still a bitch
as for B & B it is the stupidest show around next to passions but i still catch the slow moving repetitive plot lines when im home with my mom and also, not much has changed.
ridge is still a creepy douche who cant choose between taylor and brooke
brooke has married everyone on that show
macy died and her moms still kinda nuts
you guys, i used to religiously watch Passions when i was 13, rofl. i also did this with my best friend! i remember it started the summer before we started high school and there was this hot guy all the girls had a crush on when we got to high school and my best friend went up to him and told him he looked like Miguel from passions (that actor most recently played the gardener fucking gaby on desperate housewives lol jesse metcalf) and he said he got that a lot!
after the first year i stopped paying attention so religiously but id still watch passions if i was bored and my sis and mom would get pissed because they take their other more "serious" soaps too seriously. i think it was a hilarious show and i must admit i am kinda sad its not available on normal cable anymore

I dunno about blonde sisters, Rivers was in Neighbours as Cheryl's naughty son though, and there was a girl who went on to be in Home and Away.
I can't really get into Emmerdale, I hate the way it's lit! And I miss Amos and Mr Wilkes still :(
Saw it the other night though and Annie is still alive and living in Spain - I wonder if she still has her hexagonal patchwork apron? I like Viv and Bob.

I loved Sweet Valley High books when I was in elementary school. Right down to the opening chapter that identically described Jessica and Elizabeth's Fiat Spider, matching gold lariat necklaces, blue-green eyes, perfect blonde hair and how their mom could be mistaken for their sister with her size-6 figure. *sigh*
