let's say if you had the choice to buy a PSP or a Wii... what would be the better buy?
both have their pros:
+ both have wifi
+ both are around the same price (psp is cheaper, but with added necessary shit)
+ both can play nationwide/worldwide with other players
however, the psp is portable, is able to add cool shit to the HD, etc.
on the other hand, the Wii can be used for possible neater developments, can play gamecube stuff (something i never played, ever, and their games are cheap-ass lately), etc
what to do? i like portability, but i like the idea of using the internet for free on the Wii... wait, it will be free right?

I will try to way out more pros and cons if it helps. Wii is an actual game system. PsP is not. I'm not sure if we can play movies or not(most likely will) PsP can. However that is a small ass screen to watch movies on. Nintendo has always had the best Multiplayer games even for GameCube even if there were only about 10 games worth getting. Wii will have this with Mario Kart and Smash Bros. PsP on the other hand hasn't caught my attention because I have seen no games that interest me. DS has a few like New Super Mario Bros. ( I don't have a DS but have played one along with PsP)
Zelda for Wii has been in deveopment for quite sometime and is being bragged as the best Zelda game of all time by Ninetendo. It what you would call a system seller and that game along with Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy have sold me.
I guess I am more of a Nintendo person. But I do enjoy more games on xbox and xbox 360 though. But I'd go with the Wii. :smashing:

The PSP is still a product for the future. It WILL be a mobile port for surfing the net, a GPS tracker, language translator, an MP3 player, portable movie player and the newest thing, a portable TV. It offers more than just a games machine. It is being produced to work in tandem with the PS3, as a seperate screen, and a way of working on the same game. (ie you can play sub-games on the PSP from the main game on the PS3, then upload the data back into the main game when you get home), and of course being Sony, it has much the better licences and much the better games.
However, the design is flawed. They have had a lot of problems with the one analog stick. Many games, particularly FPS's, have to be modified. A PSP2 has already been announced (although details havent), and rumours suggest a second analog stick will be added. Considering the popularity (it is still refusing to sell for less than £100 on ebay), I really dont think it is worth getting one right now, but it will be near essential for the future. I would wait until the full details of the PSP2 are announced first.

goddamn, a psp2... why am i not surprised.
i'll be honest, nintendo makes some sturdy fucking products, but their line of games are the kinds i'm never that interested in. i love shit dealing with espionage or violence, or sometimes just outright quirky gameplay (big fan of Earthbound, sometimes Animal Crosser, etc).
gamecube made, what, four good games and it's making nintendo look like goofs because they're too devoted to franchises. plus they put out five million fucking versions of their handhelds out every two months.
on the other hand, microsoft and sony's systems are always flawed when they first come out, but they have a better library, and nicer graphics (imo). but, they're usually more pricey in the end... god how i'd love to buy a PS3, but fuck 600 dollars? that's a mortgage payment, my friend.
all of them are catching up to the wifi and internet capabilities and it makes it all so HARD TO DECIDE. argh. please don't let this thread be it, i must get more thoughts so far...

I totally agree with all of that. There will be various prices on the PS3 according to the size of the hard-drive. But I wouldnt recommend to anyone to get the first issue of any console considering a) they always end up flawed somehow, b) they are at their most expensive and c) the software is always crap to begin with. Developers need time with a machine to get the best out of it.
I mean look how the 360 is still sucking. All very pretty and stuff, but the games are generally piss poor. The PS3 will obviously be king, but yeah, expense etc.
I would just wait till the shitstorm dies down and wait till the smoke clears. Then things will be cheaper, and you will be much more in the clear as to what you want.
Patience, my friend.

There are quite a few awesome Gamecube titles which are espionage/violence, they just didn't get the publicity. I have Eternal Darkness, which is not only dark, but the design is top notch (your character can go insane, and the gameplay starts fucking with you). Then there is the Resident Evil remake, which is excellent. I have yet to get Resident Evil 4, but that's supposed to be one of the best games ever made. Metriod is also highly worth playing.
The Gamecube doesn't have anywhere near the amount of titles the PS2 has, but there are enough quality titles that it probably doesn't matter. But the downside is that the Gamecube doesn't have some of the major games that the PS2 & X-box had (Grand Theft Auto, for example). I either find violent titles to be really boring if that's their only selling point, or that it just adds to the intensity of a great game. There are far too many of the earlier description, but that's because most games, in general, aren't earthshaking.
I'd personally get a Wii over the PSP, but I think I generally prefer home consoles, so that's just me. I'll probably end up getting a Wii at some point, but I want to wait and see how well the controller works, and whether it gets off the ground. I rarely jump into buying consoles before I have some idea how well it's going to go.
