Should have been watching the mighty Red machine play. Seeing John Arne get nutted, not hit the deck and yelling at the ref to let him back on straight away whilst blood is streaming down his face was great. Fucking hard as nails, that lad.

Chelsea are the most cynical, disgraceful rabble of a football team I've ever seen. Barcelona sadly dropped to their level last night. It was a horrible game - seeing 22 millionnaire footballers try to cheat for 90 minutes was grim viewing.

It seems crass and cliche to say that football was the loser last night, but, well, it was

Both teams were disgraceful, but Chelsea more so. Carvalho should've been off along with Marquez, but at least Marquez stamped on Essien, who is one of the dirtiest players in the prem, easy. I suppose one of the heartening things about the game was how Messi and Xavi constantly humiliated the left side of chelsea when they weren't getting hacked to death.

"Barcelona allowed themselves to be dragged down to Chelsea's level,
like a philosopher being goaded into settling a debate with an
arm-wrestle." Rob Smyth on last night's big match at the Nou Camp.

Wonderfully put.

From yesterdays Fiver...

"All of which puts us in good company with Chelsea, who today predictably blamed Barcelona, the referee, full-fat milk, reality TV, Victor Kiam and pretty much everyone but themselves for the gigantic dump that they and Barcelona took on the beautiful game at the Nou Camp last night. "It's a shame when you see world-class players trying to get others booked," deadpanned John Terry, correctly excusing himself from criticism on the grounds that a) he tried to get Rafa Marquez sent off, not booked, and b) he isn't and never will be world-class. "Maybe Barcelona feel a bit threatened by us," he added, as that misunderstood charmer Ricardo Carvalho went round the Barca training ground whirling a chainsaw like Leatherface with a poodle perm.
On Terry went, his sense of injustice fuelled by the fact that Uefa will automatically fine Chelsea for having six players booked. "Barcelona are a great side but we are not too sure why they are so cynical," he what me'd, symbolically belly-flopping into a pool of Persil. "With the referee against us and everyone against us, we were the better side." He's right there. With the laughably underrated Michael Essien outstanding, Chelsea showed that - now, finally, after spending just £784m - they are equipped to win Big Cup. They are close to being a great team, and have an irrefutably great manager. But until they stop acting the eejits, those things will matter less and less"
