mine is eating, unfortunately. i've been feeling down for about 2 weeks now and i've gone between not eating all day and eating 339059 pounds of food the next. when i worry about stuff my stomach hurts so i can't eat.. but then the hunger takes over and it's ALMOST like a binge except i don't get sick and i'm able to stop myself. haha.
so last night i got a pie at shari's and i've already had two pieces today! mmm. oreo cream.
so, what do you ladies do when you get depressed?
i wish i was someone who like.. worked out when i got sad. haha. :D

Well, I used to go for long walks at night...by myself... which I know realize was a really bad idea. Now I just drink. :\

ohh yeah, i used to do that. well, no. i drove around. but now that the only car i can drive is an expedition, i can't justify wasting that much gas just so i feel better. sigh.

I don't eat, or don't eat enough, and sleep. I sleep for like 15 hours when I don't want to have to deal with whatever's depressing me.

I sit around in front of the computer and/or TV for hours accomplishing nothing. I also ignore my tummy till it's screaming at me and then make bad decisions about food. I've been at this for about 5 years and inching out of it now is a bitch.
Long walk s= good.
Long walks alone = not so good.
Long walks along at night =
Alcohol = yummy. But only if it's not a problem. :\

Sleeping for me too, I won't get out of bed except when absolutely necessary when I feel emotionally crappy

I used to eat. But my new found love of eating the correct portions, feeling hungry and watching the scale go down has cured that.
Watching movies, usually Johnny Depp.
Music.
The mall, usually just to walk around and watch people, I find them so disgusting I feel good about myself then.
I curl up in bed, and sometimes open a bottle of wine if I'm reaaaally glum.

Unfortunately, I tend to favour drinking. I also smoke more, which is very expensive as I smoke quite a lot as it is.
sleep, eat, drink, smoke (cigarettes), watch tv. i think depressive behaviors are the same for everyone, tending to idle useless just-feel-worse-afterward stuff. although, i also drink, smoke, and eat when i'm feeling happy so...
I guess TV is the "least" destructive for me, and I usually go for that. at least I don't get a hangover or spend extra money. TiVo is quite an enabler, providing me with as many Seinfeld and Simpsons as I want :D What is even more calming is watching the tivo and eating while holding a glass of wine and bitching to my mom. I guess I should include "ranting and complaining" as well then...

Well it would be eating but that just shits things up even more for me in a very uncomfy and long term way, so I tend to procrastinate/watch TV/sleep.

depends on how bad the depression is. mild, i take myself shoe-shopping. medium, i'll probably drink myself into a stupor. bad, same as drinking, but also refusing to get out of bed/acknowledge anything.

I distract myself by staying at my office really late, after everyone's gone, feverishly fussing around with my work and swearing out loud, very loud. I also drink about nine gallons of coffee a day.

I'm in the best mood I can remember being in at the moment and I can't stop listening to Bright Eyes, is that odd? I'm obsessed with Da Boss as well.
I'm in the worst mood I've been in for ages, but just because I've got a headache. I've been pretty happy lately.
I also haven't listened to Bright Eyes for a while.

I get into bed and watch countless episodes of sex and the city on my laptop. With headphones, in the dark.

yeah, if discovery home and living is doing a place in the sun marathon run on a cold saturday afternoon, then I feel better.
Omg, I hate Doctors so much. I can't believe you made me watch it and that we actually made up little rap songs to what was going on. *click click* wooh! yeah!

so, what do you ladies do when you get depressed?
Well, I used to cut on my arm but luckily I've stopped that.
I tend to get depressed very easily. When I get depressed, I get really scared sometimes of the way that I think. I tend to have obsessive thoughts and that's never good with depression. But when I get down lately I tend to sleep. It's the only way I know not to hurt myself and a lot of the time when I wake I feel somewhat better. I also write in my journal. It's almost impossible for me to do anything productive when I'm sad. Sometimes I'm able but most times not.

I've been on a real Meat Loaf kick, lately. It's not cheery material but I do love it.

Do you know, it occurred to me the other day that Bat Out Of Hell is actually a really good song if you ignore all the overblown Meatloaf stuff. Maybe me and Frank can cover it in our new alt.country band!

i go even further and listen to born in the usa while skipping down the streets of canada to work. it gives me so much joy to listen to the synth that would make all the hipsters cringe when i walk past them.

Maybe me and Frank can cover it in our new alt.country band! You should! It's truly a terrific album for prog rock. The Loaf just came out with Bat out of Hell 3 and I saw a video for the single and he sounds terrible, now.
 MeatLoaf (except for the new one, not heard it yet but he was being a bit of a knob with the whole suing Jim Steinman thing). He was my first true love, music wise, and Bat II was the first CD I got.

 MeatLoaf (except for the new one, not heard it yet but he was being a bit of a knob with the whole suing Jim Steinman thing). He was my first true love, music wise, and Bat II was the first CD I got. He explained the Jim Steinman thing as it being against Steinman's manager, not Jim. Jim's fallen ill and that's why he didn't work on the new project and it's probably going to show. Meat did say that he has future plans to work with Jim, though.

I've never been sadder!
So lately i've been working at least 60 hours a week.
I take walks, write shit down then throw it away, smoke a lot more, drink more, curl up and die in bed while trying to watch movies to get my mind off things.
When i'm mildly sad I can listen to music, smoke a cigarette and drink a glass of wine and feel fine. Now music is just depressing to me.

I seem to have a constant feeling of depression, whether it's small or completely overwhelming, the feeling always seems to be around.
I tend to do the following in no particular or importance...
-Buy things, like music or some clothes (:geihand:)
-Listen to my fave music whilst playing football manager or something to try and take my mind off whatever is bothering me
-Go for a walk to get some fresh air and think about things
-Go and visit somewhere
-Meet with friends

don't give up guys...
I get very easily depressed too, especially when a guy is involved, my boyfriend and I broke up last night, so I do the cliché of eaing ice cream all night and listening to Smashing Pumpkins, I just love their music...
Nymphadora you said that sometimes music helps, sometimes makes you feel more depressed - well sometimes its good to make the feeling burst to its peak so it can heal faster, better ? thats what I think at least..

Yeah, I agree with you, just sometimes it's hard to put yourself through more pain when you're already feelin it pretty bad.

healing is not a pimple. you can't speed up the process. you can squeeze out the pus but the bacteria is still gonna be there. wait so i guess it IS a pimple. ps don't pick at your pimples!
er. and by that i mean, you can cover up depression and sadness but it just takes time to get it to go away.

I usually get so lethargic it's difficult to even function properly or act normal and do normal things. I also usually get more anxious than normal and will frequently cry.

Oh, and I can't concentrate and end up watching a lot of tv.
Today I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Tyra Banks show (why? I don't know), America's Next Top Model from last week, and will now go watch this week's episode and then Top Chef a bit later on. I'll have to BS a 2 page paper too but who knows when that'll happen.
