I used to wax my legs but it's annoying, so I went back to shaving, the only thing is I cannot seem to avoid cutting myself over the shinbone. How can I avoid this? and ps I hate Immac-type stuff cos it gives me a rash.

I shave. Sometimes I wish I was a guy though, cause I hate shaving my legs. Too much territory to cover every 2-3 days and you're supposed to buy new razors after every 5-7 uses. I don't have money for that!

I use a men's Norelco shaver, the kind with the 3 spinning heads. No water or cream necessary, and you can shave after getting dressed!

I have to shave every day to avoid stubble...well, and I have it anyway after a few hours. But I digress. I hate shaving but I hate stubble more!

i wax my eyebrows and shave my legs. i LOVE getting my eyebrows waxed. it feels good and after it's done i'm like, "ahhh. i AM a girl."

but i shave my calves like once a week and i rarely shave my thighs. i figure after 2 years my boyfriend isn't allowed to care. plus every time i go all out and shave 100% he's like totally blown away. lol

I shave, but I'm so lazy with it because my leg hair is blonde, so even when I don't shave, it's not like anyone can tell, and I wear jeans 98% of the time anyway.

It's payback for us fairer types having no eyelashes without mascara!

y'know i totally used to keep up w/ my brows myself by plucking but in my last year of college and this year I just can't be arsed. they look kinda bushy and it pisses me off. i'm afraid if i go to a waxer tho that they'll take off waaaaaay too much. i'm not exactly brooke shields but I do have a strong brow and I'd hate it if they tried to give me those skinny pencil brows!

I've used a razor and Nair hair removal cream. I'd say the cream was best but it can be a hassle in hard to reach areas. Get your partner to help you.

I am like Kendra with the legs. ANd I have dark hair and like translucent skin so you can see the hair through my skin I hate it. I shave and I don't like it but don'tknow a better method.

I also get my eyebrows waxed and I don't like it, it hurts, but I love the way I feel afterwords when it's done. You should get it done, Kendra, they won't take off too much if you tell them not to.

MA is right. if you go in there and say "i really don't want them super thin" they won't make them super thin. i told them that and this is what they look like now. i  them!

my legs tend to stay smooth for about 3 days after shaving, which is fantastic. sometimes i save up hair and get them waxed, which seems to keep them smooth for about 3 weeks. wonderful. i wish my underarms were as forgiving.

oh, yeah. the one thing i shave every day is my armpits. once my old friend who was vietnamese was like, "every few weeks i pluck all my armpit hairs and it stays smooth for like a month" and i was like, holy shit doesn't that take like 3 hours? and she was like, "well it's not like there's that many hairs right there."

i wish i was vietnamese for that reason. she also had like 3 hairs on her leg that grew really slow and were so fine that you could barely see them.

my leg hair seems to grow pretty fast but its blonde.. like i have to shave everyday or i have stubble. but i also have crazy sensitive skin on my calves and no matter what, they are always itchy and i have scratched them until they bleed so much that i hate my legs more than ever. they have so many little scabs. i dunno what to do! i've tried a few different razors, different shaving creams, different lotions. nothing helps at all.

The only shaving cream I've found that doesn't irritate my skin is Lush Prince. I love to pick scabs even though I know it's very wrong, Megan do you ever do it without realising and go out with blood running down your leg?

milpool
10-07-2006, 02:15 PM
well i've scratched off many a scab right before going out and then i'm all "why is my leg wet" and yeah, gross. ); maybe i will try that stuff. or like, gold bond itch cream. but that shit probably smells like old people and menthol.

megan, why don't you invest in an epliator and use that on your legs instead? the leg hair takes much longer to grow back and it's usually less stubbly in the process.

Advantages:

Good for legs and arms

Can last from several days to several weeks.

Disadvantages:

Can be hard to use on backs of legs

Skin must be pulled tight to avoid pinching

Some find it uncomfortable, especially on sensitive areas

Harder to use on fine hairs

Hair must be grown long enough for tweezers to grasp

Plucking hairs can lead to irritated skin and ingrown hairs.

erm. i dunno, they dont sound that great.

i. love. plucking. life. Pluck pluck pluck pluck all day long!

I shave my legs but when i'm on my own i only shave once every few weeks or so b/c i dont particularly like the process. Sometimes when i'm bored i'll pluck leg hairs, but i mean, you dont get anywhere doing that, i just do it b/c i get bored.

I heard a few years ago on some documentary that they're developing topical hormone based creams that actually turn off the genes that tell the hair to grow. So you basically turn off the hair follicles! And it's ok cos there would be another cream that comes with it to turn them back on, so it's totally safe! But probably like don't eat it or stick it in your ears, etc.
