any of you other girls get UTIs often?

last year i had more than 6. i got to the point where at the MOMENT i felt the ache and burn, i knew. i didn't even have to pee to find out. and if you've never had a UTI i can tell you it was like the worst thing that ever happened to me.

not only did i have to deal with the UTI for like 24 hours, after i'd get to the doctor and take the medicine, i'd get a yeast infection! ugh.

this year i have only had 2 or 3 because i learned the importance of peeing after sex... but i guess sometimes they're unavoidable. my boyfriend no longer minds me jumping out of bed the second we're done because he'd rather i do that than whine and cry about my urethra hurting. and i've trained him to know that when i say, "i kinda have to pee" that means, "let's do it!" :D lol.

my friend camille who is like my "girl talk" friend says that if you take like 1000mg of vitamin C 2 times a day it can help kill it because the e. coli will die from the acidic pee. anyone tried that? she said it helped cure one!

I've only ever had one kidney infection and a couple of bouts of honeymoon cystitis, but one of my best friends has been suffering for about four months now, she had to go to A&E on Saturday and is now on her fifth lot of antibiotics. I'll tell her about that vitamin C thing, she's taking this stuff called something mannose waterfall, and it's not working!

I dunno about the vitamin C, I can see why it would work because drinking lots of cranberry juice always helped me with those problems (100% juice, the sugary crap will just make it worse)... maybe it was the vitamin C in the juice, but you also need to drink plenty of water! the UTI pills that you can get over-the-counter also help, but I really hate them because they turn your pee that gross orange/red color!

Cat, that sounds like my sister. I don't know if it's still the same, but for years and years she used to get one and/or a yeast infection like, once a month.

There's only been one time where I was serious enough to think it was a UTI and so i went to the doctor and they found nothing, so i went again a couple weeks later and they found nothing, and then i went to a DIFFERENT doctor a week later and they still found nothing! I knew something was up though and it turns out that my urethra was inflammed from having too much sex after not having sex for a long time :D

but, don't drink cranberry juice or anything acidic if you have a UTI. Most women are told to drink cranberry juice to detox the body but it actually makes it worse.

really? I had always been told that cranberry juice was good for it by my mom, and it did seem to work for me, though I would drink a lot of water along with the juice.

one time I remember I had...not a full-blown UTI, but felt like the start of one...and I stayed up late drinking fuckloads of beer, peed my brains out and the next day it was all better! :O

but yeah, i guess if it's acidic it's bad for you, and that includes cranberries. However, I was told by one doctor to drink it, and by the next not to drink it.

Okay so i did some google research right now and i could only find one thing about cranberry juice being bad, and that being in this book a urologist wrote, saying that acid breeds culture or something.

SO i dont know, maybe my doctor is a liar-face. I do know, however, that if you do drink cranberry juice, it has to be 100% real cranberry juice and not any with added sugar. And that shiat is grosss out ;(

That happened to my ex-girlfriend...it was extremely unpleasant to have to drive 45 minutes into town at 9 am on my day off to take her to the hospital and then be there with her alllllllll day while they ran tests. Poor girl. Then her mom came up from portland and I went home and slept.

here's the truth about cranberry juice:

drinking it regularly/taking cranberry pills will help your bladder be an unhappy place for the e. coli bacteria. all it does it make it hard for the e. coli to attach to the bladder. once you have an infection, it doesn't matter if you drink cranberry juice or water or tea or whatever. just don't drink sugar, because that will make it worse. when you drink tons of 100% cranberry juice, it helps because you're drinking tons of SOMETHING and it flushes the bacteria out!

and that's the tooth.

i had one a few months ago and it was the first one i had i think. i mightve had one when i was a kid, i dunno. but anyway, i was pissing blood and it sucks and it was scary as hell. i heard about the cranberry juice thing and actually it helps temporarily... i drank a fuckload of cranberry juice and the burning and blood and all that went away.. until i stopped drinking cranberry juice. so then i went to the doctor and yadda yadda i'm better. and yeah girls, always always pee after sex.

and cat, maybe start taking a cranberry pill everyday? they ARE TO good for the urinary tract.

well i only pissed blood one time with the inflammation, but the time it happened it wound up being the most hurtful piss i took throughout the whole thing. I started to pee but not much would come out (which is usual, ya know), but as i kept trying the pain was worse and worse and then i was doubleddd overrr with the most intense pain ever, and i could barely stand. Once i was able to, i looked and there was blood :D!

Anyways uhm, never had a UTI. Only one notable yeast infection. I have been pretty lucky w/ the exterior girl parts.

I got a UTI in May, my first one. ":D"

I was so scared, because for me it hurt to pee, really bad burning, then there were what looked like big clots of blood in the pot after. And, of course, it was like 3 in the morning and I was on vacation and had NO CLUE what to do. :darn:

Did anyone else's doc give them Cipro for their antibiotic? Because I thought that shit was like the heaviest shit they could give you---when my mom had cancer they gave her Cipro for some secondary infection and it kicked her ass, but they said it always does. I only had to take like three pills of it.

Also, ever since I took the drug that makes your urethra not hurt (that stuff you take before you can get to the doctor) it seems like I've had trouble being able to tell that I have to pee. So now I either go just because it seems like about the right time, or I have to run to the bathroom because it hits me like "OH GOD". :-o
