I need to buy a good pair of boots for this fall and winter, preferably under $100, and something comfortable. No crazy heels, I don't want to kill myself walking to class. I can't find anything yet that I really like! :( Help?

I really like wearing a very simple slip-on black dress shoe with a bit of height on the hell so I am 6'0" instead of 5"11 1/2"

wow this is the story of my life!

i've been wearing the same flats like, almost everyday since march ;( i want something newwww. There's a million shoes i want from Urban but i can't afford them right now and i need to get some new jeans b/c i don't want to wear them with what i have now because im sick of my jeans and need new ones. Yah so what if i can't write eloquently.

So yes, I won't invest till i get less fat and make a little money.

there are pretty much no better shoes than boots of all varieties. i have somewhat dressy black leather point toe knee boots with a just right stiletto heel, casual black leather riding-style boots, camel coloured uggs, winter white suede/shearling lace up boots, eggplant coloured leather knee boots, mid calf black leather boots with sort of a platformy sole (but not, it's hard to describe) for wearing with pants... i had a brief brush with burberry wellies but had to return them because they were too small, and once i got that money back i didn't feel like spending it all again; i guess the thrill wore off. i love boots.

I've never been that much into shoes. I buy some sometimes, but I generally wear either my green converse or my ugly work shoes. I plan on buying some Puma speedcats when I go home though because I love them.

i am already buying old lady "comfortable" sandals. y'know. dr. sholl's?

I do like shoes but I just HATE it when they hurt my feet. Which stops me from buying a lot of them. Also I'm a size 9.5 which apparently is the weirdest size ever, so no one ever has anything! I love looking at them tho.

I like Chuck Taylors.

I have like 3 pairs. I used to have 4 but the soles started coming out of the 1st pair I ever bought. They lasted a while though..So, that was good. :)

No, 10.5 is harder to find, imo. My feet are shrinking, I think. I used to wear size 10 and they would pinch a bit (11 was too big) and now 9-9.5 fits.

Oh, and I bought boots. These suckers oughta be comfortable: http://www.zappos.com/images/720/7209329/3034-231524-p.jpg

You know how a size 6 today used to be a size 12 or whatever? They slowly make the clothing size numbers smaller to make women feel better about themselves so they'll buy more clothes. I think they're doing the same thing with shoes. I used to be a standard 8.5 and now I'm an 8/occasional 7.5. Your feet aren't shrinking, the industry is fucked up.

And I'm kind of sad because for a while I was getting into high heels, but over the past month my knees have been majorly fucked up so it's back to flats and sneakers. I don't know if I can even wear heels anymore. I hurt just laying in bed sometimes. Anyone have 2 spare knees they want to trade?

have no spare knees myself, mine are in a right state and i have to dose myself up with painkillers if i'm going to wear heels for an evening now, but whatevs. i'd rather die than not wear heels.

I FINALLY GOT MY STRIPPER SHOES!!!! Whoooo! HOOOOO!!!

They are hugely tall, platform, Mary-Jane style, black with white lace trim around the top! And they have a delicate strap across the top of my foot, with a tiny bow on it!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!! Shoe fetish realized!.

My husband kinda blushed when he saw them--and said, "Um, I don't think you should wear those out in public." :)

I thought I couldn't wear high heels anymore, since age 18 I've worn flat shoes mostly, but I was just out of practice.

haha, i bought a pair of lanyardish pink flats that were Dr. Sholl's, and they wound up being one of the most uncomfortable blister-inducing pairs of shoes i've ever owned. it took maybe 9ish months to break them in (because obv. i didn't wear them regularly), but when i did, they were super comfy. three months later they've almost completely fallen apart. GOD wasn't that fascinating, all.

I had some that were my mum's in the 70's, they were high and quite slutty, but she's a 7 and I'm a 5 so I could only wear them round the house.

a 5! i'm jealous of cute small feet. my size eights look too long in proportion with my legs. runs in the family.

I think an American 5 is smaller than a UK one? I'm a 37 1/2 in European, if that helps.

Intern Kate
09-27-2006, 12:01 PM
oh right, i see. i think a five UK equals seven US. still pretty small i think.

They're not the biggest feet, but they could be smaller. I wish I was a 3, they get all the best ones in the sale.

Pele

I wish I was a 6 because independent shoe stores sometimes have "Samples" from really expensive or unique brands at super cheap prices. Real cutting edge stuff, that you'll never see on anyone else cos they're samples of shoes that might not be coming out for a while, or might not make the final cut but that doesn't make them any less worthy. But I'm pretty happy being an 8 / 8.5, it's never hard to find, I really do feel badly for those of you with some freaky ass foot size like 10AA or 5 double wide :(

i really need cute shoes that are practical, in that i can wear them standing for 6-8 hours. and spill coffee and chai on them. so of course i had to buy instead these peep-toe wedges, deep-blue, suede, ten dollars. love them. don't know when i'll have the oppurtunity to wear them besides around the house, wearing pajamas, doing laundry etc.

I find Rocket Dog shoes to be really comfortable, yet cute. Pretty much every pair I've ever had has been comfy be they boots, sandals, or maryjanes.
They were the only shoes I could wear when I walked back and forth to my college campus every day and had to look classy at work in between.

I heart Zappos. Shopping in jammies + free shipping/returns = yay. Oh and add a dash of filtering by wide size 9 only, and I'm on cloud 9. :D

i mostly wear what is apparently called 'athletic inspired' sneakers, meaning they look cute but theyre comfortable.
and i get all my urban outfitters flats (and well all my flats in general) on ebay for 10$ instead of 30$ plus tax in stores
the size thing, ive always been going between a 6-7 it just depends on the make of the shoe really, but i have wider feet i think so that's really the reason i need a 7 sometimes, there's always some room in the toes.
and to people who love boots, i envy you, i live in canada so i really should be wearing boots for a big part of the year but i find they always look ugly and are overpriced and everyone walks around wearing the same kind with their jeans tucked into them and i just cant bear to do that.

I never ever wear heels anymore. I only wear my black converse, even to work, and these, if I happen to wear a skirt.

Reminds me of when my cousins father showed up at her wedding wearing ballet slippers. (pony tail & tongue ring)
