That guy is my hero. I've seen his website many times.
That laptop cost $1,200 in parts! That's an expensive X-box 360! Of course, it comes with its own screen, so...
I still think the biggest seller in the world would be if Nintendo came out with an iPod type device which played videogames downloaded off it's archive service (or even better, emulated games). You wouldn't even need that big of a hard drive.
Since the DS and Wii and communicate wirelessley, something like that may be possible, though I'd imagine Nintendo would be unwilling to release blank carts on which stuff could be stored for piracy reasons. Maybe the handheld after the DS will have a hard drive of some sort..

Not exactly what you're saying, but the entire NES library isn't even the size of a gig. You can buy a 1G flash card for under 30 bucks (cheaper if you look around) and do it that way. All you'd need is the card, and a portable controller.

That is pretty cool but I think that guy has a little to much time on his hands.

I think the Wii is coming with a flash card drive, so if someone wanted to build the device you're talking about, they could even ghetto rig intergration with the Wii. Of course, I doubt you could do anything like people did with the Dreamcast.

Oh just the fact that a lot of people either post in the smashing pumpkins forum or general board and seeing as theres no new news less people come to this board. And the video games board in paticular only really has 10 people at max post in this section of blamo. 10 people isn't a lot of people therefore hardly anyone reads this forum.
Wow I feel smart writing all that. Usually I post some dumb crap that noone wants to read......like the above

What did people did with the Dreamcast?
According to its Wikipedia page, the GC has an SD drive, btw.
I'm really tempted to buy a Wii, I wasn't fussed about the GC but got one in the end (and just bought Eternal Darkness on your reccomendation from months ago, nice one!) but I really want to play the new Zelda with all the sword fighting/bow and arrow wielding fun stuff. I also like the idea that each controller saves profile info/whatever, so you go to yer mates house with your controller and it has all your stuff on it. It'd make sense if it had a memory card in but I don't think it does.

what did people do with a dreamcast?
well, let me just state right now that so far, the only relevant consoles that have ever been released for true geeks have been the dreamcast, and the x-box.
the dreamcast was a total wet dream if you were all about the internet and video games... it ran so smoothly when it came to gameplay, not to mention the image was so nice... also, hacking the shit out of it to play NES titles was keen at the time
however, the x-box took it one further and pretty much made it to where you could operate it as its own computer. sure, it's basically a celeron processor but the idea that you can put any size hard drive in it, back up as many x-box games as you want (without the discs needed), you could browse the internet and fuck with it to run Xbox Live illegally. my god, it's such a gas when it comes to getting drunk out of your mind and playing halo 2 or some such with a bunch of morons online. really.

i am not a big fan of Nintendo's products. haven't been since 1996 or so, BUT, i see why others do dig this new Wii ... however i think this "interactive remote controller" bullshit is simply that - bullshit. no, i do not want to wield a controller like its a lightsaber, no i do not want to point and click at shit... though the gun for RE4 (or 5?) is tempting.
