Sunday afternoons are now brighter.
Who looks good? Who looks bad?
The Seahawks look bad. Very sloppy 9-6 win today. I'm getting nervous, I hope the offense can start clicking.
Trent green :O bad injury. Hope he's okay.

Which team are you? I'm neck and neck with Giants right now. I think that's chuck. It's all down to the Indy/NY game. I have Manning and Burress, and he has Shockey and Toomer. Nice thing is if his guys score a TD, I will too because I have the guy throwing it. But he's ahead by 1 point so I need Burress to do something. He's got 41 yards so far.

guys, i love Bledsoe and i don't care what anyone says. i was SO. CLOSE. to crying at the end of the Cowboys/Jaguars game when Dallas finally slipped. aka Drew. SIGH. love him.
also, though i like Dion Branch, i think all the first round picks the Pats are racking up are worth losing him over. though it is a gamble maybe/i guess.
finally, i don't know a lot about football n' stuff. just that i worship Drew Bledsoe. the other day i came across stalker photographs i took of him when my dad brought us to the Patriot's summer training camp a billion years ago.

The Cowboys, euch.
I see they are already calling for a QB change at Dallas. I'm sure they will have to get T.O.'s permission first.
Nasty injury to Trent Green, glad he is ok. There was a similar incident in the Rugby League relegation decider over here when a player took a bad knock and went cold. Afterwards, he said he couldnt remember the incident, but when asked if he knew what day it was, he said "judgement day". Nice touch.
I was delighted with the start made by Stallworth, and the Eagles offence in general. The defence was a little slow to get going, but really shined when it did. All in all, though, its hard to evaluate too much on one game v Texans. Far more important game v the Gnats today. I'm just glad the rest of the NFC East got off to a losing start. Especially good to see the Cowboys and Redskins throw decent leads away.
Oh yeah, and I was pleased to see the Saints do well, they deserve some good times after what they have been through.

My New Orleans Saints stand at 2-0 with a huge divisional match-up next Monday night for which I will be in attendance. The Falcons have looked really good and their run game seems to be unstoppable. I hope we can find enough defense to keep the run under control and enough offense to score on a very good Falcon's D. All in all it should be a great trip back to the dome after last year.
Go LLAMAS!!!!
j/k. I am watching more football tho and gradually getting a feel for it. It's not that unlike rugby. I'm still getting used to having such huge teams tho and how the positions are so specialized.

Sunday's game was heart-breaking. Some ridiculous decisions, some terrible luck and a load of complacency...and now the Superfreak is out for the season.
Just before OT, Meg sent me a message - "Someone do the heimlich manouvere, the Eagles are choking again. Totally outplayed them for 3/4's, should have put more on the board, but at least we have shown we are a shit-hot team (even if one that needs a lesson in professionalism).
...at least TO has broken his finger :D

Seahawks looked fantastic! I jokingly told my friend we'd leave and play tennis as soon as the boys were up by 6 touchdowns. Sure enough, mid 3rd quarter it's 42-3. :) And this was against the Giants :O :D. So yeah Alexander is hurt. My prediction, Mo Morris comes in and does fine and the Seahawks do great. I don't know if they'll beat the bears, after all it is in Chicago. I suspect they will, but even if they don't this should be a rocking season.

Meg is down at Chickies and Petes in South Philly, (just across the road from the Linc), and she put the phone up so I could hear everybody whilst she got a beer shower at the end! God I LOVE that town, no one can compete with that level of passion. Just gutted I couldnt be there in person.
So many positives to take out of the game, McNabb's 3rd 300 plus yardage in 5 games, Westbrook back, an awesome defensive display. What was it? ANOTHER 6 sacks, 3 INT, and more forced fumbles. I dont have the stats at hand right now. Of course, add to that T. O. being utterly useless, miserable and totally exploding and the vacant, brain-dead stare of that cunt Bledsoe looking like he was about to cry into Parcells fat belly.

I think Im gonna post this in the silly pics thread too. On our coverage of the game, you could choose to watch either game on sunday. Sky has an interactive service, where they have a choice of two 6pm (1pm EST) games and 2 9.15pm (4.15pm EST) games, or just a constantly updated package of highlights. Channel 5 shows the Monday night game, but with a kick off of 1.30am, you can understand it has a limited audience here. It is a feed from the US broadcasters, 3 secs ahead for some reason, as I found out when I was on the phone to Meg and we tried to synch the clock on screen! They also provide regular updates of all games and when there is a commercial break in the US, we show bits of other games, and keep in touch. So I saw regular highlights of the Chiefs game, which sounded like a cracker too.
The Eagles should win next Sunday. The Saints have had a little of their bubble burst. Sure they had a narrow defeat at Carolina, but they only just beat a poor Bucs side and I dont think there will be anything close to the same emotion in their second game back in the Dome as against the Falcons. It will be very tough though, and I'm sure the Eagles wont be complacent about it. Will be interesting to see if Stallworth plays.

Yeah, I have a feeling that Philly will win this weekend. I must say, though, Bruce Gradkowski is 10X the QB that Chris Sims is which would explain the somewhat potent offense the Bucs put up last Sunday. That, and the fact that the Saints did a piss-poor job of stopping the run. What can I say? I hope we can pull it out. I'll probably be there.

Dallas is very stupid for signing T.O.
Seahawks have a big game with St. Louis this week. It will likely be very close, good game to watch. I think Philly will take NO, but NO surprises me every week. Looks like Bush is doing alright down there, for a rookie.
Tatum Bell is looking very good so far for Denver, and Grossman's having a good year for the Bears, although I've never liked him much. Alexander's healing quickly and may play this weekend.

Saints tickets are among the cheapest in the league second to only Atlanta, I believe. Funny story: before the Atlanta game I was hanging out at my favorite bar and they had a guy in there who said he got his tickets for the game from some Philly guy who bought 300 Saints season tickets just for the Saints/Eagles game! He was selling off all the other tickets so he better hope the Saints keep playing well.

Bush will do better once he learns how to run in the NFL. In the Pac 10, he could pull all the triple-juke-spin away-stutter step stuff. That doesn't work in the NFL because there are D-lineman that are faster than some of the linebackers he went against in college. He's learning and looking better each week. He's become a big threat in the slot position which is where his value is most noticeable since slot receivers generally get covered by LB's if it's a 4-3 or 3-4 base. His punt return for a TD was great because when he caught it he just took off and beat one guy and the blocks were set up for him down the field. He's very fun and exciting to watch and I can only hope that he continues to get better each week.
DrHibbert
10-12-2006, 10:16 PM
True, but I'm pretty sure that's not just true in the Pac 10. I know how you love to dog the Pac, but the college game is obviously not as fast as the pro game in any conference.
Monday night - Chicago and Arizona? :therock: Who chose that matchup? Should be a landslide. Maybe even as bad as the Eagles/Seahawks game last year.

Nah, as much as the Saints are rapidly becoming everyones second favourite team, they just arent that good and will need a hell of a lot of luck to get there.
Credit has to be given to Payton for getting the team doing so well (coach of the year already?), but it is gonna take more than just team spirit and high confidence to get to the Bowl, especially considering that means getting past the Bears.
The Saints played out of their fucking skins on Sunday, which wouldnt have been enough alone to beat the Eagles, but, lets face it, the Eagles fucking sucked in the 1st half. Donovan taking too long with receivers out clear, Westbrook kept going nowhere, the defense was in utter chaos (no one knew what anyone else was doing), Moats ran into Dexter Wynn on the punt return, and as for the penalties! Fucking hell, they must have lost 50 yds!!
At least they got their act together in the 2nd half and there should have been no way that they were going to lose when they went in front and the class shone through, but the final TD was appalling. There was nobody within 5 yards of Horn. It should have been no more than a consolation, but they had left themselves too much to do.
I dont want to take anything away from the Saints, they deserved to win it, but I still insist they shouldn't have! If the Eagles even played their average game, they would have won, but hey, they didnt, so they didnt win. Maybe they underestimated the Saints, maybe they didnt expect their confidence to be so high, whatever, they blew it.
I just cant decide whether it is a good or bad thing that nobody has really outplayed them this year. They should be 6-0 but have lost two games when they were too casual and paid the heavy price. I'm leaning towards the bad.
Mind you, if we lose to the Bucs, all that goes out of the window.

Aww C'mon, EVERYONE hates the cowboys! Thats what they are there for. Apart from the obvious teams (ie the rest of NFC East), I also depsise the Pats (mostly because of that cunt Brady, who has a face that just needs smacking),
the Dolphins (although that isnt real hatred, I just find them so bland, and living off the past OMFGFGHFF GOODDD! DAN MARINO IS SOOOOO FUCKIKKING COOOL MAN!)
the Raiders (cant really put my finger on it, maybe its because I am listening to Danzig right now, and I have to rock out, or maybe its because they I find the fans just another bunch of vacant LA knobheads. Oh yeah, sorry, OAKLAND knobheads. I forgot there are no fans in LA anymore  )
and Atlanta (because they arrogant pricks who always think they can out-muscle the Eagles. Like, yeah, right!) oh and all this Michael Vick arse-kissing is annoying. The guy is entertaining as hell, but I'd much rather have a QB who can throw the ball better than be able to run like him. Or you could have McNabb who can do both! Granted, no other QB can do what Vick does, but whose arm would you much rather have?
Of course, there are players I particularly dont like, and vice versa.
To balance it up, lets name some other teams I like. I admire the way the Bears and Seahawks play the game. Despite Sunday, I like the Saints for the obvious reasons. I have a soft spot for the Packers, god knows why. Must be something about people who are willing to be on tv with cheese on their heads without a gun being pointed at their head. Gotta admire that.

The Eagles have had a horrible run of luck lately. Anytime you get beat on last second FG's 2 weeks in a row not to mention a 62!! yarder, you know there's something at work against your team. Lets not forget the field goal in the dying seconds to tie the game for the Giants and the ensuing loss in OT. 3 times in half a season?
Dude, it is too late. Its not luck, its the Eagles. This is normality to us. If we lose these games, when we have some tough ones in the 2nd half of the season, I am beginning to dread what will happen. Can someone tell me how we lost a game were Westbrook rushed over 100, received for over a 100 and McNabb passed over 300, and rushed for about 67 yards, (i think it was), were the Bucs got nowhere near those figures!!!??

I still think Bledsoe gives the Cowboys their best chance of being mediocre. Romo will probably make them worse. Their problem is not the QB it's the dreadful offensive line. When you can't successfully run the football, teams can play the pass in nickle coverages and that's why the Cowgirls turn theball over so much. So, while T.O. seemed like a great pick-up for the Cows, he was not necessary. They should've spent that money on some O-linemen.

Damn straight. I still recall several times against the Eagles seeing Bledsoe stand up straight, just before the snap and draw the finger across his throat. He was doing it in plenty of time, but the O-line did nothing to stop him getting mauled in the blitz time and time again.

That's just plain funny. Glad the Colts won, though. I'm tired of the Pats and Belichik and his cut-off sweatshirts.

Well after the debacle against the Dolphins, I was not surprised to see the Bears return to form. That defeat for the Giants means they are just one game ahead of the Eagles now. You never know, the Eagles deserve some luck and we might go 12-4 with a slice of it! Although we do have to play Indy!

I can't wait for Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck get back. Mo Morris actually had a decent game yesterday, which was nice. He really ought to, considering the holes he's seeing. And Seneca's been alright, but he's no Hasselbeck. The receiving corps is already scary, and when Engram comes back it will be a joy to see.
Congratulations to Houston for beating Jacksonville again. Strange how they've got their number.
I too was not surprised to see the Bears hand it to the Giants. Both of those teams are utterly unpredictable. The Giants need to get a new quarterback. He's just not Peyton, folks.

What IS the fucking deal with the Jags? Surely the most random, unpredictable team in the NFL.
Everyone seemd to be leaning to the Giants after the Bears lost to the Dolphins, particularly their awful rush defense performance, and after all, the Giants dont have Peyton, but they do have Tiki.

That is because the Cowboys suck and nobody likes them, and the fact that I backed the Colts and would have won £273 ($540) if they would have won, and they should have won.
Oh and I would surprised if Bledsoe ever plays for the Cowboys again. Too slow, cumbersome and immobile, and also the fact that Romo has been much better. Mind you, I would surprised if he plays anywhere again, who would want him at his age?

He signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns on March 9, 2004. In the summer of 2004, wide receiver Terrell Owens, a former 49ers teammate, gave an interview for Playboy magazine where he implied that Garcia was homosexual.

Some highly intelligent work with the ball, grounding the Dallas D into the ground, and standing tall in the D themselves, it looks like the Eagles are picking up at the right time. I have a sneaking feeling KC will upset Indy. They are quite a tough team and the Colts look to be fading fast yet again. Should be a TD-fest either way.
The game in Seattle is a total toss-up. Two completely inconsistent teams. The Seahawks are always better at home, so I will plump for them.
I have another sneaking feeling for the Jets, but my sensible side has told me I am being ridiculous.
..and finally the Eagles must SURELY beat the piss poor Giants. Awful secondary. Prone to disintegration and undeserving of a wild card with an 8-8 record. The Eagles should have a bye too! Concentrate on stopping the runs from Tiki and they cant do bugger all.

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Lito Sheppard will miss Saturday's second-round playoff game against New Orleans with a dislocated right elbow.
Sheppard was injured going for a tackle on a running play in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-20 victory over the New York Giants. He was replaced by Rod Hood.
William James, who was inactive against the Giants, will take Sheppard's roster spot and join Hood, Sheldon Brown and Joselio Hanson in the secondary.
Should the Eagles advance, it's possible Sheppard could return to the lineup.
"It's a little tricky," coach Andy Reid said Monday. "This week for sure he won't be back. We'll see down the road, if there is a down the road."
Sheppard missed three games with an ankle injury in September, but had six interceptions and earned his second trip to the Pro Bowl.
The Eagles already are without five-time Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb and three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jevon Kearse.
------That could be big against our passing attack.

I had such high hopes for the Bears, but with Grossman's inconsistency (or lately just plain sucking) and our terrible performance against the Packers a week ago doesn't leave me with much hope. I don't think our defense will be able to get us out of this one.
Maybe Grossman will stop buckling under pressure and end the season with a bang, but I doubt it.

I have a feeling Grossman is going to live up to his suckiness, have a terrible game, and the Bears will still win a close one. I just haven't seen much out of the Seahawks to indicate they can find a way to win this one. The running game has been sporadic, but generally awful. The passing game will have to be A+ to win it. Or they get Hutchinson to show up and dress up in a Seahawks uniform, then we can run again.
Eagles/Saints - wow, this one's tough to predict. If the Eagles get up early I think they could hammer the Saints, just with their playoff experience. But I think if New Orleans stays close they will win.
Edit: Anyone want to throw out predictions for this weekend?

I actually see the Saints jumping out early like they've done most of the season. Then, the dome-field advantage takes over. It'll be louder than the Monday night game agains the Falcons. I like the Saints in a VERY close game. 24-21? It'd be weird to win by an FG again but bookmakers usually give 3 pts for the home team. It could probably go either way. The Saints have to be on their game from the get-go, unlike after the bye week against the Ravens. It probably comes down to who wins the turnover battle.

well, sad for Philly, but...go saints!

The Saints are going to get their asses handed to them this weekend, frozened. I am going for the Colts, but history says they will choke again.
I wish I was on this thread sooner so that I could rub in every time my 'boys win! Rest assured that there will be plenty of time for that next season. Believe me, ya'll are really going to hate the Cowboys next season!

I honestly never thought I'd see the Saints play in the NFC championship game. Ever.
PS- What the hell was Andy Reid thinking not going for it on that last 4th and 15 when his defense was giving up about 8 yds a carry to Deuce. Was he hoping Reggie would fumble again?
Such a close game. Hank was on his way to score and we got pulled back for a fucking offside!! That was the difference between winning and losing. Some strange decisions from the officials, but hey, some strange ones from Reid too. The punt looked like as mistake all the way. We could easily take on that Saints defence, we ripped them apart the play before! Overall, once again it was the penalties which have plagued us all season, and letting the Saints convert on 3rd and long way too often. Still, such a tight game. Who would have thought that the only game that didnt go down to the wire was the one with zero TD's?
Man, I thought we had a really good chance to win. Still kind of surprised the Seahawks played that well and lost. Hats off to the Bears.
All 4 underdogs beat the spread, too bad I didn't get more action on my bets.
You did have a good chance to win. It sounds obvious, but that could have gone either way. You got first possession in OT after all.

So you wouldnt be doing much rubbing in then? By the way, rub in what, exactly? That you can actually win a game? Wow, I wish our teams could do that! Yeah, there will be plenty of time for us to give you your condolencies next season. We hate the Cowgirls already, why would next season be any different? Can you remember what it is like to win a division title, or are you still too young?

I hope so. I really, really want the Saints to win it now. I'm on your side now, buddy.

I dunno. Unfortunately, I doubt it matters as I can see the AFC team winning easily whatever the match-up.

I'm not liking this snow forecast this weekend. It'll slow down both teams but the Saints depend on converting 3rd downs through the air. If Payton spreads the field and runs Deuce like Seattle did with Alexander I think we will be fine. Either way, I want Deuce to have at least 30 touches. In normal weather I think the Saints are an easy favorite. With the weather it's more of a toss up.

The only way the Saints are gonna win that one is if Grossman tries to emulate Joe Montana again, which is entirely possible. But I don't think Lovie Smith's gonna let that happen. Expect Benson and Jones to get damn near 55 touches between the two of them. If it snows, the Saints chances are zero. That being said, I would love to see them win.....good for football, and New Olreans.

The Cowboys always put on a good show, no matter what the outcome is. I love watching other teams get so "high" when they are leading the Cowboys, every team wants to beat them. They know that everything is bigger in Texas, and that everywhere the Cowboys go they always have many fans in the stands. I can rub in that stuff all day.

They always put on a good show of fucking up. The Seahawks will testify to that. They provided no other entertainment in that game. They were absolutely awful. The Seahawks played like crap and still won it, which says it all about the Cowboys. Leading the Cowboys is no different to leading any other team. If you really think they are special, or unique, then you are very, very wrong. The Cowboys are small fry in the NFC, let alone the whole NFL. The team is currently disintegrating all over the place. Coaching and playing staff have no stability.

Holy shit, he's getting in there untouched. If I was an offensive coordinator, I'd have an eye on him all day, just to protect my QBs life.
P.s. Yes, Snow will effect both teams and Deuce and Reggie are very good backs. That being said, expect the snow to neutralize the passing attack of both teams. All things being equal, basically what you have left are 2 good running backs rushing against the Bears D vs 2 good backs rushing against the Saints D. Bears clearly have the edge in the snow.

I was being partly sarcastic about always putting on a good show (the fucking up with style). To be frank, I was satisfied with the way their season ended, it's always something worthy of the theatrical stage. I knew it wasnt their year anyway with the lagging secondary and whooped o-line. But why do you say "disintegrating"? The team is in much better shape after Parcells took over, they used to start Quincy Carter!!! Tony Romo hasn't yet proved he is one of the best, but I don't think there is any question whether the Cowboy's will be a dominating team next year.
I know there is nothing I can say to lessen your hatred of the Cowboys, but you can count of me having a really, really good time next year watching other teams getting trounced by my 'boys!

Yeah, your O-line has been pretty rotten all season. Just ask Bledsoe.
Will Parcells be around for next season? It looks like certain Little T wont be, (who wants him?) Romo started off great but faded badly, he has a lot to prove. I remember back in Sept at the start of the season and everyone ranting and raving about the COwboy D. That came to nothing huh? Thats what I mean about disintegration. Cowboys are stilll in transitional period.
So I turned the TV off last night, with the Colts down 21-3 and generally being dominated. Same old Peyton Manning - electric in the regular season and ineffective in the playoffs. Gutted...
Couldn't bloody believe it when the score appeared on Sky Sports News this morning!! Get in!!!

After they were down 21-3 before half, I thought they were done. I even went so far as to curse the Manning family (i'm a giants fan). Thankfully I kept watching, because that was one of the best games I've ever seen. You see the news conference after? Bill Belichick seems like such a sore loser. Which in his case is understandable, because he doesn't lose very often. After this big win, I think the Colts are gonna walk through the Bears.

Luck has been fortunate to both of these teams [Bears and Colts]. I wanted (and predicted during pre-season) these two teams to play the Super Bowl. I think the championship should and will go to the team with the better QB.

With Parcells retirement today, you were right about the transitional period. However, whoever takes over (my coin is on Bob Stubbs of OU), there will be a capable team, TO will most likely stay, as most of the key offensive players. If Greg Ellis can stay healthy the Defense should be in good shape for next year, even better add a speed man in the secondary...
Since Parcells is gone maybe the new Coach will work in the fullback position, something the Cowboys have missed in the last three years.

Well I was surprised the Saints lost. After they came back and made it 16-14 I thought Chicago was done. They keep overcoming Grossman's ineptitude.
But I did have Indy beating the spread, so the Hibnosticator is 5-1 vs the spread in the last 2 weeks.
Indy is opening as a 7-point favorite over the Bears. I think the Bears beat that line and the game comes down to the last possession. Just hope Rexy doesn't get inspired.
