This is still my favorite RPG ever. I've always loved how tongue-in-cheek the story was too; the evil wizard, the frog prince, the princess being saved by a rogue.... It adds a good twist to things.

FFXII is even borrowing the idea of the double techs. And i haven't seen many RPGs since this one that had the characters working together like that.

"Chrono Cross" was horrible, in my opinion though. There were too many fucking characters, not a very good battle system, and the only redeeming feature was the story (and only really the parts that pertained to the prequel).

They need to do something with this franchise though, i miss it.

Yep, it's damn good. I've finished it about 3 times.
Not my favourite though, that goes to Xenogears or FF7.

Xenogears

With regard to CT... it's been so long. But I found a mac rom of it recently, and I might start playing it today.

chrono trigger rocks.

i once had the idea of selling it since i had everything that originally came with it, i called my friend who had last borrowed the game and he said something like, "oh right. uhm, i lost it." and to this day when i ask him to get me another one he never has money. except for cds, cigarettes, pot, gas money, you know.. esssentials.

I wholeheratedly agree with this thread. Chrono Trigger was definitely one of the best planned and unique RPG out there with tons of options.

It does, however, lose out to Terranigma and Lufia (the second one with Maxim's whole life storyline kinda) imo, which were alot less appreciated. =(

Obviously they are all inferior to western rpgs such as Baldur's Gate II and Fallout.
