I was talking to a guy who works at GameStop the other day. He told me he couldn't wait for the remake of FF7. I kind of scoffed at him and asked if he really believed that that was going to happen. He put it very simply:
"They will, definitely. The amount of revenue it would create for Square-Enix would be HUGE."
This is true. I guess Best Buy was recently taking pre-orders for the game also. Seems a little weird to me, a big retailer making such a huge mistake like that.... Time will tell.

As much as I like the game, they'd have to do a lot more than just improve the graphics in order for people who aren't Moe to buy it.

Even though I love the game, reamaking it means that I would have to buy a PS3. That's $500+ dollars. I don't have a job where I make enough money to blow $500+, and I'm sure my parents don't love me enough to get me the system for Christmas.

Yeah, it sucks how systems are getting so pricey these days. They need to stop adding things to them, like internet, mp3 player capability, etc, etc, etc that keeps bumping up the price. I can't wait till Playstation 4 with fax machine capability comes out.

lol
It will probably make coffee too.
If it actually has a good browser and everything, then i would be more than happy to drop 600$. I'll be happy anyway though, as i'm going to save to buy both the Wii and the PS3 right when they come out. Kind of stupid, but i was thinking about it the other night and do you realize that the price for the PS2 has only recently dropped? It will take at least a good two years for it to come down any, and i'm not willing to wait that long for it.
If they do remake FFVII though, they'll definitely add on some cool stuff.

From Wiki,
North America
* US$299.99 (October 26, 2000, Launch Price) (CAD$449.99)
* US$199.99 (May 14, 2002) (CAD$299.99)
* US$179.99 (May 13, 2003) (CAD$249.99)
* US$149.99 (May 11, 2004) (CAD$179.99)
* US$129.99 (April 20, 2006) (CAD$139.99)
Seems like Sony waits until two years after launch to slice the prices, as you pointed out. If I buy it, I will most likely wait 2-3 years to buy it unless I win the lottery or something.
The main beef with the add-ons and everything is, that most people have computers/internet these days. The same with DVD players, so there's really no logical reason to cram so many of these things into a video game system as most of these add-ons are sub-standard anyway and jack up the price. Like, I mean, its cool that the PS3 will have blue-tooth support for their controllers and everything so you don't need a cord, but I'd just as easier keep the cord if its going to slash some money off the overall price. $600 for a video game console is ridiculous. We didn't die in World War 2 so Japan could sell us 600 dollar consoles blah blah blah, yada, go america. But seriously, $600 is only $50 less than the Neo Geo and that was released way back in 1990, mayne.

I will wait few years too. £450 here for PS3. I wonder if we have to buy a fuckin HD TV too.
The team who made the FF 7 tech demo claim that as soon as they were done making the demo they began working on FF 13. I don't think they can make two games at once.
Instead of a Remake that evrybody wanted we got a mediocre movie a crappy cell phone game and a crappy Vincent shooter game.Ugh.
Maybee we are better off without a remake !
they will probably change too much and screw it up.
i want the same exact game just way better looking,
and a few extra side quests, mini games and different difficulty settings to make the game harder. and a few new Materia couldn't hurt.
I know the American version had a few scenes and dialogue changes from the japan version. they could possibly restore that stuff.

I for one could live without a remake. One of the charms of Final Fantasy VII I think is the fact that Cloud has no mouth and that his hands are squares.
Of course, it's going to happen eventually. The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series is apparently going to go on for another ten years, and as already said, it's going to make Square-Enix a load of money. It's like the best selling installment of the series right?

I'd bet he'd source it from some tiny african country and buy a 100 copies just to make it number 1 in their games chart.
