What a douche, eh?

I mean, I already knew he was a douche. And I think he's missing a chromosome, too. But way to reinforce.

"Play for yourself," Ted.

In the article I read it said Gibbons challenged Hillie to a fight. He should've kicked his ass before he fired him.

Well, he's off to San Francisco, along with Vinny Chulk. They sent Jeremy Accardo over to Toronto. Alou says he'll play first base for the most part, and bat either 3rd or 5th in the line-up. Believe it or not, the Giants are only a half game out of first place in that weak NL west Division....so he'll help. He was having a productive season until he started acting like a twit.

I'm not sure I'd call a first baseman with an .821 OPS "productive."

Actually, drama aside, it's a good trade for the Blue Jays. Accardo projects to be a decent middle reliever, and he's got the stuff to become an excellent one.

PS, I think Brian Sabean's one of the game's most overrated GMs. Been coasting for the last decade on having Bonds as his lineup's centerpiece.

.301 - 12 - 40 In under 300 Abs is productive. The fact that he got scooped up so quickly, even though he's a clubhouse cancer is testament to that. Agreed, the Blue Jays got the better of the deal. Apparently, the Giants were grooming Accardo to be their closer of the future. Sabean is overrated! Not only has he been content with having Bonds as the centerpiece, he's been content with Bonds being the only offensive threat in the lineup for a few years now. (oops! steve finley :erm: ). The last time Bonds had any protection in the lineup was when Jeff Kent was there.

Batting average is not a useful stat. Runs batted in say nothing about the player credited with them: they mean only that somebody gets on base in front of him. Hillenbrand's .342 OBP is mediocre, especially for a first baseman. His .480 SLG is above career norms, and, again, unsexy. He's getting paid almost six million dollars this year, yet his offensive production could probably be almost replicated by a number of career minor leaguer, AAAA types (someone give fucking Roberto Petagine a chance) making league minimum. Hillenbrand is shit value.

Not to get on a high horse or anything. But I really hate Shea Hillenbrand.

Yeah, and Sabean - also, giving multiyear contracts to guys who are 346 years old. He's been very lucky this hasn't come around to bite him in the ass more often.

Also - Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski, or however his name is spelled? Ouch. But Sabean likes his proven veterans.
