Probably Romanticism for me. It tore down a lot of barriers and stressed the importance of one's own idealism, and to me that's a very important concept in art. Besides, i think once you get into a debate as to what exactly is art, you have to eventually resort to a Romantic definition.

It just seemed to restore a lot of the "magic" in life, rather than running it through an equation and making it boring and lifeless.

But almost ironically, i really enjoy Minimalism and been reading some Pound lately.

What about you?

I don't care for the notion of schools and movements. I prefer individual talent.

wasn't Pound rather racist? unless i've got the wrong Pound.

He was an anti-Semite and read Nazi propaganda on the radio during the war.

Me too, art nouveau is so lovely. I love to try and do my own art nouveau, but it usually turns out pretty crappy.

the Pre-Raphelite Brotherhood, as it's the only one I've ever bothered to study at all. I fucking hate some of it, but Millais' Ophelia and Waterhouse's Lady of Shallot make up for it.

Have to echo Ted here. Most every "movement" has its own fantastic share of crap.

There's some Waterhouse in the Aberdeen art gallery! I love Waterhouse as well.
