EA unveils six games for the Wii

Up until today, EA's strategy for the Nintendo's new gaming platform called Wii, was a little murky. Earlier in the year, EA and Nintendo showed off how the "Madden NFL" title would play with the new innovative motion-sensing Wii remote. But aside from "Need for Speed: Carbon," we didn't know what EA had up its sleeve.

EA said today it's releasing four new titles this year made specifically for the Wii. The titles include "Harry Potter," "Tiger Woods PGA Tour," "SSX" and "The Godfather."

John Schappert, Senior Vice President and General Manager at EA said the company is excited about developing for the Nintendo platform.

"Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation. Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the hardware and controller," he said in a statement. "By reaching into our catalogue, we are able to bring a fresh and distinctive experience to some of EA's most popular franchises. Creatively, the game play possibilities are staggering and endless."

Having more titles from big name publishers like EA will give an added boost to Nintendo, which is set to launch the Wii sometime later this year. Already, the company has set the price at no more than $250 (read: $249.99) which will be considerably cheaper than the PS3 and the Xbox 360. And there is also recent speculation that the Wii, which is already being manufactured, could launch in October, perhaps even September.
