I have a soft spot for the original Nintendo, the games were just awesome, easy to use without reading a manual, unique concepts, etc. Although the Game Cube is starting to grow on me. I can't wait until Wii actually comes out, I think I'll try it out at a Best Buy or something first to see how it plays.

SNES. More comfy controller, consistently fun gameplay, and durable. Once my neighbor left his on for two weeks because the game he was playing had no save points, and I had to clean all the smoke out of it, but it immediately worked afterward.

NES. Not just cos I'm trying to be hip, but you can't really top Kirby or Super Mario 3.

N64 and the original PS. I played old skool nintendo as well, but N64 and PS1 were the consoles that I really got into videogames.

I'm gonna buy a gamecube for my birthday, I think. I miss playing DoubleDash high.

Buy the Nintendo Wii instead, out at the end of the year, you can play GameCube games on that, as well as NES, SNES and N64 games.

Sony is beating themselves in this fight. If a Blu-ray player's the only obvious advantage, between the Wii and the 360 they're not looking too good.

super nes..! By far... Kirby, Donkey Kong adventures, random games that i can't find anymore that were amazing, mario kart, and various others..! By far one of the greatest consoles ever!

Never owned a console, except for a NES that was a xmas gift from a family friend. Unfortunately it was from CA and so ran on 110V whereas Australia is 240V so we never played it much.

NES and SNES are the only ones I played much of. I've played Xbox a bit too.
Favourite console game of all time: Super Mario Kart.

Sony sux0rs.

PS2 but only til the PS3 comes out.

I would have to second this.

I also find the Nintendo DS to have some of the most interesting and fun games I have ever played.

I'm going for NES. For many years I was allowed to play many games on the system, even when it came to SMB3. I enjoyed the fact that years passed and the NES remained the forefront in video game technology.

rhon, come to the music forum for some suede mp3's!!1

the SNES was the greatest - super mario world, mario all stars, mario kart, metroid prime, zombies, yoshi's island etc.

Sony has completely dominated for years now and with the Xshite already fucking up, it looks set to continue for many a decade. PS3 will rule the roost yet again. Bad for competiton, but great for games.

In short, PS2 becuase it incorporates PS1 and very shortly PS3 will be the best.

I heard some crap about the new GTA coming out on the 360 first.

Yeah, Rockstar Games dropped their exclusive contract with Sony, so GTA will now come out on the 360 as well.

Yeah rockstar! Go makes some more table tennis! I think making the table tennis game is a perfect example of how lame Rockstar Games are. Yeah! That's right - I said it!

SNES. Host to some of the most fantastic games ever. Still kinda beautiful in all its 16-bit glory. Super Metroid.

Don't worry about that, that's not the case. Rockstar only dropped their exclusivity contract with Sony. All that means is that now XBOX players won't have to wait months for a port of the GTA games. Instead they'll come out at the same time for both systems.

You know, personally i'd like to see the new GTA on the Wii. The controller would work wonders in that game....

Probably PS2. It had that cool ocean theme to it (when you just left it on it would play sounds of the ocean waves- so you could just leave it on and relax) and the games run phenomenally on it. It also plays DVDs. What more could you want?

I'm hoping they continue the ocean theme for 3.

I love the Playstation over all other systems for three resons:
1. It plays DVD and Blu-ray discs.
2. It's controller is easy to use, having the same, simple controller for all three systems.
3. Final Fantasy VII.

I don't think i have a favorite system.

I just love lots of different stuff from different systems.

SNES.

The system had a lot of really shit games, but the classics more than make up for it. PS1 was sort of the next generation SNES in that aspect.

Top 3

1) SNES
2) PS2
3) N64/Dreamcast tie

I have never played an XBOX, and I won't be buying anymore gaming systems either.

Don't forget the Final Fantasy games. I'd say it a close call between NES and SNES. I always enjoyed Sega Genesis too. If I had to pick I'd probably go with SNES. Excellent games, great graphics for the time, and a controller that didn't require extra digits to use properly. I wish they'd made Super Kid Icarus for the SNES.

I am def. a big SNES fan myself. The controller didn't give me horrible skin conditions like the rectangular NES controller did. Donkey Kong Land is probably my favorite game ever, despite it's simplicity. I never did find all the secret shit...I got to 97% and gave up on it. And word up to Super Metroid - GREAT GAME. I wish I still had my SNES :(

If I ever get a TV, I'm going to get on eBay and buy me a SNES and a buncha games!

SNES still takes the cake for me. No load times, fun games, and some of the best pixel art known to man. MarioKart, Street Fighter II, Pilotwings, etc.

N64 for GoldenEye, PerfectDark, and Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask, though XBox does come close to being my favourite. Halo & FarCry!

Special points for Sega Genesis and my nostalgia for Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3D.

Take my advice, Don't buy a GC there are very few good games for it, trust me, I own one. PS2 is currently my pick for best system to buy, However SNES is my old-school favorite, for Super Mario World and all the Mortal Kombat games.

Yeah, I'm gonna get a Wii instead and drivechip that bitch. Then I can play the handful of good GC games, get the GC homebrew, and still be able to play new Wii games.

and there's no point getting any mod until you hear the reviews for all. best rule of thumb? wait until there's at least five on the market, then read up. enjoy

Genesis, man! Did anybody else play Rocket Knight Adventures? It's like the guys who made Contra tried to catch that "rodent with an attitude" craze that Sonic started. When my 360 broke down, I pulled out the 15 year old Genesis. It looks a little funny on an HDTV, but it still runs like a dream!

1. Sega Saturn
2. Sega Dreamcast
3. Sega Genesis/CD/32X Combo

You can go ahead and call me a Sega fanboy but the Genesis is what really got me into games and I stayed loyal to Sega until their dying console breath...although I did also own a PS1 during the Saturn/Dreamcast times.

These are simply my favorite consoles, I'm not some kind of retro goon

I completely agree. Ive been wanting to buy a top loading NES on ebay for quite some time now. Sometimes you will see someone selling a top loader with like 200-300 games for a few hundred dollars. For me that would be money well spent. I would also really like a ps3.
