everyone here is acting like a bunch of fucking morons about it. i was hoping they'd lose just so everyone would CHILL OUT.
Having knocked out my beloved Red Wings, I can't possibly want the Oilers to win. So whoever wins out east gets my vote - my heart says Carolina, head says Buffalo...

I'm gonna be watching the game tonight. I hope to death that Carolina win. The Sabres sure played us tough. Now we have Forsberg (who, for the uninitiated, is by far the greatest player in the game) out until Jan '07. Apparently he has only been playing at 50% and will be at 100% after the surgery.
Holy fuck. If he was that good then, I shudder to think what he will be like after.

yeah i hope he can stay healthy for an entire season soon...he's a beauty.
Yep, when he's fit Forsberg's the most complete player around.
Still hate him though. Once an Av, always an Av

Are you one of those bastards who's driving around honking all night blocking off Jasper and Whyte ave and making me late home every weekend?
Have the Oilers' chances of winning the cup disappeared with Dwayne Roloson? I really hope not - game 1 was fantastic

It looks like it. Carolina are destroying them. I dont think I have ever recalled such a one-sided Stanley Cup finals.

Errr, no.
I couldnt recall that, and went back and checked.
FYI, the scores were 2-3, 3-1, 3-2, 3-0, 3-1. Detroit lost the first game, and so it was not as one-sided as this year (so far) at all, and there is nothing like a 5-0 in there either.

Fair enough, but I remember that series being effectively over by the third game. I'm hoping that the 5-0 was a blip though. Game 1 definitely wasn't dominated by the 'Canes. Until the third it was all Edmonton. I really hope the Oilers can find the aggression that they showed at the start of that game, and win game 3. I still want Carolina to win the cup, but it would be a real shame if the Oilers just capitulated after what's been a fantastic playoff run

I doubt there is any chance that they will chill out. Whether Edmonton wins or loses, people will likely riot, like after any championship. Plus, the sportscasters will be dissecting everything until the cows come home.
It's kind of tragicly funny that people actually seem to cause mayhem more when there team wins.
I am not that a big of a hockey fan, despite being from Canada as well. But I have to say Edmonton is making it interesting, with a third string goalie, they pushed it 7 games, after being done 3-1 in the series. It's not as big as the Red Sox overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the 2003 ALCS before sweeping the Cardinals in the World Series, but I guess it's the closest thing if they manage to win tonight.

I guess most people are kinda too upset if they lose. Im gonna stay up and watch it tonight (1am start for us Brits). I have been impressed with how the Oilers came back, but I still want Carolina to win.
