it's the next big thing in combat sports and it's gonna take over boxing soon.
here's a video to get familiarize with mma, the music is kindda corny but it has some great highlights.

UFC 60 - Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie is tomorrow
http://60.ufc.com/
legend vs champion
royce gracie was the man that started it all by beating up opponents that outweighed him as much as 70 pounds and making them quit with his brazilian jiu jitsu.
but that was 13 years ago, this is now and the sport and fighters of today has evolved tremendously. matt hughes is one of the most dominating welterweights of the sport and there is no way royce could beat hughes, it won't even be close.

The Ortiz/Shamrock 2 was a joke.

the whole UFC 61 card was a joke. one there worst events in a while. the highlight of the night was when they announced wanderlei silva vs. chuck liddell in nov. huge milestone for mma, one step closer to unifying the belts and establishing a legitimate "world" champion.

ortiz/shamrock 2, like the first fight, was all hype. the fans were booing because of the early stoppage but if the fight wasn't stopped right there, ortiz would've just been relentless with the elbows and ground and pound. there was no way shamrock could've gotten out of that. ortiz is no where near the level of the top light heavyweights and shamrock is way past his prime.

i was rooting for yves edwards who loss from a doctor's stoppage due to a cut on his forhead. it's always disappointing to see a fight get stopped due to a cut, especially when the fighter still has the physical and mental ability to fight.

I don't think it's going to overtake boxing.
