Now that I have everything sort of put together and where I want it I thought I'd take a few snapshots so y'all can see what I'm running over here.

The gear:

M-Audio BX5a Studio Monitors (5" woofer, 1" tweeter)
DigiDesign MBox 2 running Pro Tools 7
PreSonus BlueTube Dual Channel Preamp
Korg Microsynth
dbx 266xl dual channel compressor
Studio Projects B1 (not pictured)
Shure SM57 (not pictured)
Apple Powerbook G4, 1Ghz, 1 GB RAM
160 GB External Hard Drive by Western Digital

And hey, why don't y'all post photos of your setups? I'd love to see what y'all have going on. That's three "y'alls" in one post!

I resent your use of the word 'synth' in the name of the photo Sir, taking into account the MIDI-controller nature of your keyboard. Also, I might post pics of stuff if I can get any half-decent photos with my phone.

Man, these are so crap it's hardly worth uploading them. Still:

We have here;
My Trace Elliot Supertramp 100w amp
30 band EQ
Big Muff
My laptop and assorted stuff, speakers, graphics tablet etc
Seil DK80 Synth (currently only half working but I got it for £40  and should be easy to fix, I already fixed it some myself)
250Gb External hard drive
Lexicon Omega recording interface

More in the next post, what with the 5 attachment limit.

Oberheim OB12 synth, replete with blinking red lights and all kinds of shizzle and whatnot, more bells and whistles per square inch than the average synth anyhoo.
Epiphone SG and Squier strat (I'm a poor student, what do you expect, plus the epiphone's not that bad)
Assorted stuff, including a drum synth (the big thing) and another EQ.

Also, what's happened to pictures being displayed?

when you post more than one it does that thing to condense them. I was going to say something about the MIDI controller being so too, those MIDI controllers are pretty ace though.

PS iLol camera phone!

:D

When I've finished redecorating my bedroom and put everything back where it belongs I'll post beautiful pictures.

I can't get out to Chicago til wednesday, is that soon enough? Actually, anthrax in the mail would get there like tomorrow, so I can do that if you prefer.

I prefer face to face. And I'm off work wednesday, so that'll be perfect. Say behind the dumpster in the alley by my apartment around 3 AM?

Oberheim OB12 synth, replete with blinking red lights and all kinds of shizzle and whatnot, more bells and whistles per square inch than the average synth anyhoo.Do you think it would be fair to say that the MicroKorg has more bells and whistles per square doodad than the OB, or to qualify as having bells and whistles, do said bells and whistles have to be in plain view?

Ah, the eternal question.

A suitable subject for rumination, yes. I think in the end one would have to class the two as being fairly near equal on the BaW/in^2 scale, since the OB12 has like you say more visible bells and whistles, but over a larger area. On the whole I am led to believe it has more features in total also, but then we must consider the compactness of said Microkorg.

Well, ok, but it wont be exactly 3 you know, I do have to have an element of surprise. We don't you changing your mind at the last second and calling the cops, do we?

here's a photo of a toy (in the true sense of the word) that I currently happen to be playing with. I'm bored so I made it look crazy, the lightening bolt is actually there though.

since they're all set up nicely at the moment, here are some of my toys, as well as some of Luke's.

Working clockwise from the top left:
Luke's Lexicon, drum synth pad, drum synth (on top) and sampler, MicroKorg, US Big Muff (on the shelf), Squier Jagmaster, Tascam 4-track recorder (on the chair), pretty but rubbish strat copy, pedals (amp footswitch, vox wah, fuzz factory, flanger, tuner), Fender Deville, Luke's Trace Elliot and a practice amp connected to the drum synth.
