He'll be on the Sundance Channel in a 15 min program (along with other famous d00ds) talking about Hurricane Katrina and blah blah blah. It's called "In the Sun" and I'll be sure to record it and squeal in girlish glee. Maybe. :smelly:

K, I watched it this morning while chowing down on some Kashi Heart to Heart ;o
James is on there for approx 30 secs talking about uhh . . . actually I don't remember exactly. I'll transcribe it for you guys this afternoon (if I remember). He was his typical self, kinda spacey and slow in speech! :)
Oh yeah, they mentioned the website for the show: http://www.sundancechannel.com/inthesun/
There might be some extra vids there or something. The music sounds pretty good.

Oh snap, I just realized they had the full length documentary on the website (41 min as opposed to the 15 that actually aired on the channel). Weird, I wonder why they didn't just have it on the channel? Pffft. Cool though...I vill vatch eet laterrr...

You never realize how much people say "um" and stutter until you're typing it out as you hear it . . . anywhere, here's the James-related quotes.
Michael Stipe: I've known James for a long time now and uh we had worked on other projects in the past and I just really admire him a lot. I think he's got a great...umm..I think he's a very easy guy to collaborate with. He has great ideas, he loved the idea of doing something to help out the victims of Katrina and he stepped up and be brought in all these amazing people to play on the song.
James Iha: I got involved with this project when uhm Michael Stipe uhm I r-ran into him on the street and um he was telling me y'know he really wanted t-to do something, s-some kind of song for, ah, Hurricane Katrina benefit y'know, I a'course said 'Yeah!' And so he y'know he told me about this song that's by Joseph Arthur. It's a great song, I mean, great chords, melody, harmonies and y'know, lyrics, it's like a very like . . . spiritual kind of journey.
Michael Stipe: Myself and him [Joseph Arthur] and James in the studio was a pretty incredible experience. And I think you can hear it in the track, that thing that doesn't have that magic or whatever, that can or can not happen, I think it definitely happened.
Michael (speaking about the different versions of the song): There's a version of me singing the entire song on my own; all the music is played by James Iha.

As an afterthought I kinda wish James had sang on one of the versions of this tune. I think the thing I miss most about him doing solo work is his voice!
