I've played guitar/piano for years, always really enjoyed it, played for hours every day etc etc. Music has also always been a great release for me if i'm stressed, kind of balances that monotony of work with something more creative.

For the last month i just haven't been able to play a thing, i can't even pick up my guitar without feeling like a complete fraud, all creativity seems to have vanished, and my guitar just looms in the corner glareing at me.

Has anyone else had a similar experience, i guess of just hitting a major block that you can't see around?

Words of understanding would be most appreciated

Thanks,
J

Unless you are prone to having parties where you get the guitar out, it is pretty hard playing in your bedroom year in year out. I dont play anymore.

I played guitar and particularly piano for years too. I didn't have access to a piano when I moved to London but now I do again - and I rarely play. I still play guitar occasionally tho I left my acoustic at Kendra's place (deliberately). My electric is here but I don't really like playing it much anymore. Maybe I'll pick em up again sometime.

This sounds like writer's block. Just do it when you wanna do it, man. Don't put so much pressure on yourself to be "genuine" or what-the-fuck-ever. Ugh.

Cheers everyone.
Meeting up with a friend of mine tomorrow to work on some of her songs with her, so hopefully this could help me get back into the swing of things.
