We, like, haven't had a winter to begin with. We had a few things resembling winter in December... at least that's the way it's been in Michigan.

I'm half expecting three or four smart alecs to start another three or four "Happy Groundhog Day" threads.
Y'know, just to be funny.

This year, Goundhog Day and the State of the
Union address occur on the same day.
As Air America Radio pointed out,
"It is an ironic juxtaposition of events:
one involves a meaningless ritual in which we
look to a creature of little intelligence for
prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog."

My son, who is in kindergarten, had to make a chart asking all the other students in class whether or not the groundhog would see it's shadow today. Needless to say, most the the kids thought the groundhog would not see it's shadow. It's interesting to look at through a psychological pov. There's a lot of optimistic children in his class. It sucks that as life progresses, that optimism fades into reality. Sure, it would be nice if phil didn't see his shadow, but come on! How often does that happen? And then you realize as you grow up that Groundhog's day is just another day, that winter is not based on whether a groundhog sees it's shadow or not... It sucks.
*sigh* To be young and innocent again. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

We havent had any real winter around here there is no snow on the ground our high temps have been above 32 for a while, I personally with we could have some winter.
Also theres a groundhog here in michigan that predicts the winter just like phil does. Her name is woody, and she lives at a state park, shes like 70% acurate and she saw her saddow :(
(I was litening to NPR this morning and they were talking about it thats the only reason i know this)
Looks like more winter for us!!
