I don't know if you guys would be interested in this but there are a bunch of tests that are supposed to measure to some degree your reactions to a variety of stimuli that represent sterotypes. I thought it was interesting:

I found out that I have a slight automatic preference to light skinned people.

I'm glad that in my part of the country, it's still mostly White-British people. I don't "hate" others, but I hate playing "Spot-The-White-Man" in Gravesend and London. It's disheartening.

Oh and on Crimewatch the other night (real life Crime programme that appeals for info), 85% of the people they featured weren't white. And the ones that were did proper crimes like bank robberies, all teh blacks and pakis do is mugging old ladies and killing shopkeepers in bungled armed robberies.

I think racism, in terms of my previous post (i.e. not hate, just preferration) is institutional in Britain. I'm not ashamed of it.

I'm racial and believe most stereotypes are pretty accurate.
For as long as I can remember my family taught me to hate everyone except whitey. They are still very verbal about it today.

I of course befriended every black child in school (and we moved twice to get away from "busing") to see what was different about them.

I grew up and in my 20's realized my parents raised me on their ideals, not on the truth. Starting from about age 22 I've tried to see the world from only my opinion but their remarks are burned into my brain. I hate all the ignorant bullshit in my head. I have an ugly opinion of my parents as human beings.

I have wondered what life would be like without having been taught to hate everyone. But I think it makes me try to be nicer.

It's only really since I left school I started not taking generalisations at face valus. Like when i met this geezer Ahmed at college (I think Ive mentioned him before) it was ME that propositioned HIM to come and have a spliff after class, and we had a chat about Afghanistan and the Taleban and shit, and it was really interesting, and he's a good guy. He pays taxes and doesnt take any money off the government, unfortunately not all the immigrants are like him.

Anyway my point is it wouldve been stupid for me to ignore him or avoid him just because he's an Arab. Kris would probably dig him too as he's not religous, and he's even got a slight chavvy Medway accent now, which is humourous.

It's not all they do, sure more of them do it compared to white people, but look at what class they're part of. They are poorer in most cases. They have usually had harder lives than us, less education (or not as good). Blaming it on race is quite a leap IMO. But then again, sometimes it's easier to see someone's color than listen to their life story.

Doesn't surprise me. As Kendra said, we're hard wired for these types of things. As much as we try to be rational, we aren't.

I do believe that race is a bit of an illusion. It just happens to be a trait which is the most visual to human beings, and it has absolutely no bering on personality, other than culture.
