You advocate a large degree of personal freedom and a large degree of government control over the economy. Your neighbors include such folks as Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader, Hillary Clinton, and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, and may refer to themselves as "liberals," "left-wing liberals," "civil libertarians," "democratic socialists," "egalitarians," or "anarcho-socialists."

i was a sucker though, he asked me "how many pills we talking about here" and "were you in a club or something", but I told him the truth (98 pills at my workplace) and just sorta gave me an awkward smile then read out the legal thing denying my visa. Cheers buddy.

I dont think you need a holiday visa for Canada do you? I think being British, I should be pardoned anyway, and the Canadian tax payer should foot my expensives, being from the motherland.

Ha ha. Uhm... but yeah, you can stay in Canada for up to 6 months on a British passport I think. Getting work permits and stuff is a pain in the arse, but that's mostly down to the British side of things. After I applied, Canada was like "Yeah, fine" after about a month. Then they forwarded all my stuff to the British offices, and it's been about 9 months and counting. I recently found out that the actual Canadian embassy place in London is only open for about 3 hours a week or so.

Why does economic freedom give us those things? Economic freedom pretty much inherently increases the rich-poor divide. Prosperity, yeah, but not for most people. Prosperity for Bill Gates, Bush, and the companies behind Bush. And again, a higher standard of living? For whom? Third world countries? I think not.

Yes, more freedom increases disparity. It's typical right-wing hogwash. More tax on the rich and more tax-breaks on the poor. And stop thinking about 3rd world poverty, something needs to be done about domestic poverty. What did you describe yourself as in the last question?

Ok, hang on a second here. For one thing, I'm not a socialist in the true or full meaning of the word. All I'm talking about is decreasing the freedom of the market, nothing else. I'm not talking about taking away people's right to private property or anything else. I'm not talking about everyone being the government's bitches.

The other thing is, that site only says that Ludwig Van Whatever says that certain things are true, and while some of them may well be, it doesn't say why. I'm not saying there is no reason why and it's tantamount to a religion, but can you please explain his theories for me? I'm serious, I'm not mocking, I want to know.

I don't think what you call socialism is the generally accepted definition then. Certainly for me full-on socialism implies massive government intervention in pretty much everything, which, while not as far gone as communism, seems pretty stupid and totally untenable. Basically, I don't trust any government enough to let that happen.

And don't worry, I don't take anything on this board personally, and I know that in that sense I tend to give as good as I get too.

Hang about! If you're talking that extreme, then I think you're making the wrong choice about going right! I mean, with the most extreme right-wing policies possible, we are talking death sentence for borrowing a pencil from someone for 5 seconds without them knowing. I mean, that's how far it'd have to be for the leftist equivalent to be no prisons. I vote for no prisons in that scenario!

I think it should be pointed out that left-wing is not anything goes, it's anything goes that doesn't hurt anyone else. No prisons would not be truly liberal (unless an equivalent system was implemented) since it would restrict the freedoms of others.
