Life On Mars and 5 Years is all I really need.

All of Hunkydory, all of Ziggy Stardust, lots of others. I am doing this thing whereby I collect all his records and only then do I listen to them, therefore there are big gaps in my Bowie love.

Fame- I don't know if he wrote it.
When we were drunk once my husband told me a story about David Bowie being held prisoner while doing an album. Possible he was in a foreign country, and the album has alot of "just noises" on it and he was on drugs.
Anyone know anything about that? Or something close to that?

I never heard anything like that. He was in Berlin while he recorded the "Eno trilogy" so to speak, that being Low, Heroes, and Lodger (the latter being recorded in multiple countries). He was definitely on a lot of drugs, though. The one with "a lot of noises" was most likely Low, even though Heroes had a few tracks near the end that could be classified as 'musical wanking' to others.

I seem to recall Bowie saying that he didn't remember recording some album or other of his, due to the apparently impressive volume of cocaine he was inhaling at the time.

I once had a neighbour who saw David Bowies penis.
True story! He went backstage at some gig in the 70's and he had just come out of the shower, then proceeded to spark a spliff all whilst stark bollock naked. This neighbour also did Mescaline with the US hippies that were over here in teh 60s and 70s.

Well, I only have the 2CD best of so that may explain it. Coincidentally, I'm gonna start buying some albums of his this year on Real Player Music Store.

Absolute Beginners has always been my favourite song of his, along with Sweet thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing(reprise). I wonder if anyone in the world likes '87 and Cry best. Hahahahahahahahaha D:
