He was playing with Robyn Hitchcock and The Minus 3 as part of the Minus 3.
At the end of the gig he went to help out at the merchandise stall and got mobbed. I got to say Hi to him. Top Bloke.

yeah Peter is cool, probably the coolest member of R.E.M. And I haven't heard much Minus 5 but what I have heard I like, and it's cool that when R.E.M. have downtime Peter is still out there plugging away making music. Hardest working man in rock 'n roll. Thanks for the pics Paul.
He's also had the two greatest embarrasing stories as far as R.E.M. goes. 1)when he got really drunk during an interview and said he wanted to kill George Bush (this was George Sr., who in hindsight after seeing his son was a comparitively competent president) 2)when he got really drunk on an airplane and threw yogurt at a stewardess.
what a life Peter has led :D

my friend Kate once ran into the lot of REM at a show... it was either Super Drag, Superchunk or Super Grass... and they were at the back of the room wathcin' the show (they were starting their tour in Philly that weekend) and she got there late and spotted them and offered to buy them drinks, but they were cool cause they were already getting free drinks from the venue

Aria: Yeah, Peter would be my favorite to have a bite and a drink with. He seems the sort of chap where you could have a really cool conversation about music and stuff with, without any pretence.
MA: Yeah, he always seems to be playing music in some sort of capacity when he's not doing anything with REM. I feel sorry for his family though. First REM do a super long tour late 04 through to summer 05. Now he's off again. But I guess that they must respect that it's what he loves. Ha ha...apparently when he was drunk on the plane during the 'incident' he shouted out, "I am REM" :D but also tried to put a CD in the food trolley
Tabris: That's sooo cool. My friend Oliver's lecturer at college is a graphic deigner but also used to be in a band. And she played cricket with Michael Stipe backstage at Glastonbury...and also designed the album sleeve for the Cure's Wild Mood Swings and has met Fat Bob. I want to marry her.
I have a video clip from the show...but YSI won't upload it...grr...!!!!

I remember when that happened. Bono arrived in the court room and the case was thrown out due to fear of him speaking for more than 5 minutes.
