Yeah, I'm 20 today. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I don't even feel like partying or anything.

damn you Chuck with your non-labelling of this thread. Almost stroked Kris's ego to orgasm with two birthday threads until I found this one!

Happy birthday Kris! I don;t want to be 20, I wont be able to dismiss my antics as that of a teenager anymore. I;ve got till April.

What are you waiting for!??!

Do it now! Nas' verse on Verbal Intercourse is like the best thing ever. I personally think the album features Rza's best production.

I don't really like Liquid Swords too much. Ironman is a classic though, I absolutly love this song....

Yo, dwellin in the past, flashbacks when I was young
Whoever thought that I'd have a baby girl and three sons
I'm goin through this difficult stage I find it hard to believe
Why my old Earth had so many seeds
But she's an old woman, and due to me I respect that
I saw life for what it's really worth and took a step back
Family ain't family no more, we used to play ball
Eggs after school, eat grits cause we was poor
Grab the pliers for the channel, fix the hanger on the TV
Rockin each others pants to school wasn't easy
We survived winters, snotty nosed with no coats
We kept it real, but the older brother still had jokes
Sadly, daddy left me at the age of six
I didn't know nuttin but mommy neatly packed his shit
She cried, and grandma held the family down
I guess mommy wasn't strong enough, she just went down
Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment
Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there
Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head
I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed
Seven o'clock, pluckin roaches out the cereal box
Some shared the same spoon, watchin saturday cartoons
Sugar water was our thing, every meal was no thrill
In the summer, free lunch held us down like steel
And there was days I had to go to Tex house with a note
Stating "Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke"
So embarrasin I couldn't stand to knock on they door
My friends might be laughin, I spent stamps in stores
Mommy where's the toilet paper, use the newspaper
Look Ms. Rose gave us a couch, she's the neighbor
Things was deep, my whole youth was sharper than cleats
Two brothers with muscular dystrophy, it killed me
But I remember this, mom's would lick her finger tips
To wipe the cold out my eye before school wit her spit
Case worker had her runnin back to face to face
I caught a case, housin tried to throw us out of our place
Sometimes I look up at the stars and analyze the sky
And ask myself was I meant to be here... why?
Yeah, yo

Also, Cam'ron recently dissed Jay-z.

I can't wait till Jay-z puts him out of misery with a Takeover pt 2.

Just a warning, it's awful. Jay-z will bury this clown if he decides to respond.

Kris K

I hate it when people try to attribute Roc-A-Fella's success to Dame. Even if he was the best business man in the world, you're not going to create a multi-million record company off of rappers like Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Amil, Rell, etc, etc. It's clear that Dame and Biggs needed Jay-z a lot more than Jay-z needed them.

Takeover is brilliant. It's the complete opposite of what everyone expected from Jay.

Today I was flicking through the channels and whats his face from Pulp Fiction (marcelus wallace) was on the jesus channel. He was screaming so loud he was shaking and crying about how kids worship tupac instead of jesus. The white woman hosting the show looked very frightened and kept laughing nervously.

there are several that you could argue as the best of all time, but i think the five best are:

2pac
Biggie
Jay-z
Nas
Eminem

yes i might just be a whore for my generation but i dont think any of the old school emcess (rakim, run, dmc, ll cool j) were as prolific as those five.

Kris K

I can't believe I forgot Pac. He's the greatest of all time imo, but as for the best living, it's either Jay or Nas.

Biggie is overrated.

i guess you can say he is overrated because of how much biggie-obsessors talk him up. BUT you really cant deny his skill or the impact he had in such a little time.

god just imagine Biggie and 2pac alive now, with Pharrel, Timbo, Kanye, etc. That would be fun.

I think Biggie was great, but to elevate him to the same level or over 2pac is just crazy. That said, I really like Ready To Die and consider it a classic.

I'd rather hear Biggie and Pac over Dj Premier (best Hip Hop producer ever), Alchemist and Just Blaze.

i dont know if id say best ever, i fucking love primo though. gangstarr was grossly underrated.
just blaze has been a favorite of mine for awhile now too. his work on When Disaster Strikes was great.
i was really excited to see where rockwilder was gonna take things but then he kinda fell off. oh well.

as for biggie, id never put him over 2pac. however i absolutely think eminem is on pacs level (aside from when he does dumb shit with toilet humor and stuff).
