they're really very different albums. gish is kinda raw, machina is overproduced. machina is also kinda crappy esp towards the end whereas gish is awesome. so yeah.

i love both of them. i always felt they were similiar lyrically in content. very general declarations. the in between albums, SD, MCIS, PI, Adore were very first-person personal. GIsh and Machina are speak in a wise tone and bright advice.

I personally like Machina better but Gish is an excellent album as well.

The only people who are posers are those who got into the band for one album and jumped off the boat after things went downhill in commerical sales. I will admit that I got into the Pumpkins primarily because of 1979 but I have stayed a fan ever since and there are so many songs I like better than that. Pumpkins are one of the few bands that I like each album better than the last (Pisces and Judas O are free radicals in that since they are b-sides album and therefore don't necessarily have a coherent direction to them).
