I've never actually seen his paintings. I didn't even know he painted until the other day.

I"m not offended. I'm irritated by the fact that this is a running joke that he feels he must carry on past death to mock a poet (and his fans) that he's read one poem from and obviously doesn't like his style of writing.
but you know what? that's ok, if it's a reaction he's looking for, I just wont give him one. it's sad I have to treat him like a 6th grader, but I guess that's what I'll do.
