Hi Peter...guess what? I now have free unlimited use of a professional quality recording studio! It's at Aiglon College...one of the most prestigious Swiss finishing schools...and I marched in there a few days ago and demanded a job as a guitar teacher. And I didn't get one, but I get to use their studio whenever I want!
Hahahaaaaaaaa:-D :-D :-D

Whoa...that's pretty fucking awesome, Ed! Do they have Pro Tools and all that good digital stuff or do they have a 2" tape machine as well?

Hey Peter, I have some more fun news for you:
I just got an email from Aaron bloody North, ex guitarist of The Icarus Line, and current guitarist of Nine Inch Nails!

WTF? Who sat down and decided to make you the lucky boy this week?
I went on a date last night with this girl who is sooooooo much more indie than me, I can hardly stand it. And what's more...she's a freelance rock journalist and she's interviewed E V E R Y B O D Y. It's ridiculous!

That is friggin cool man. But indie people can be a bit much. My friend Lindsey being a prime case.
But yeah...I decided to make me the lucky boy this week! I emailed him first and asked if he wanted to interview the Duke Spirit for his Buddyhead website, and then today he emailed me back!!
Woop woop!

this was his reply:
hey dude... we're not really doin that too many interviews anymore. we're
tryin to focus that kind of stuff towards our "buddyhead radio show" that
we're gonna start doing more often now. the idea is to let people actually
listen to the interviews instead of reading them n shit. so from now on
we're trying to wait until people are either touring here in the states, and
we can shove a mic in front of their face... or i happen to be over there or
something and the same sort of thing. werdemup. so i guess lemme know the
next time they're gonna be out this way or something? thanks dude. aaron.
But I emailed him back with their American tour dates, so we'll see what he says.

Friggin' will do man! Werdemup.
If you're interested, I've record a new song called The Skin (http://www.myspace.com/thewoodlandishghoul). It's quite long, but there's plenty of changes so it doesn't get repetetive. Plenty of Vocal harmonies too, oh, and one guitar solo! Plus if you know my song "the End", you'll recognize the chorus at the very end. um, no pun intended.

And while you're listening to that...check out my newer song called Niagara Jazz which I almost lost completely to a serious computer error. -Ed

I dig both of them t00ns, Ed. I love the ending on The Skin. The vocals are superbly taken care of. The only thing I'd say, is that you should experiment with the EQ on vocals when you double-track the same melody. One the second track, try hacking off the high end of the spectrum. I've found that it often enough tightens things up and brings out some more clarity overall.

Thanks dude. What should I use to cut off the high end, just the EQ mixer or some sort of compression thingy or peak filter?
Peter

Just some EQ will do the trick. I wouldn't say a low pass filter...you don't want to destroy the high end entirely, you just want to cut it back pretty far. so a Peak EQ would work just fine. attenuate, say, frequencies above 6.5 khz.

the main riff of "Colour in Motion" is superb. tidy it up and you'll have a great song there.
How do you mean clean it up exactly?
