Dont call it Rap man. Rap's a verb nowadays, the music's been a lot more important since Rap's heyday in the late 80's.

Dead Prez - Lets Get Free
Blackalicious - NIA
Wu Tang - Enter The 36 Chambers

Everyone starts off listening to Cypress Hill ha ha. I don;t like their Rock stuff though.

I like Hip Hop. But there's no new artists that are particularly brilliant. Heard Nas' new one is mediocre but with, of course, some stand out tracks.

As a whiny indie girl I would recommend Float by Aesop Rock. I also like Sage Francis and Atmosphere.
now I must go and knit a cardigan out of acoustic guitars and fairy tears, bye.

I've been listening to Black Rob's "Life Story," album. It's pretty damn good even though his second album was kind of bland. I guess he'd be able to put out better material if he wasn't in jail all the time.

I feel woefully inexperienced when it comes to most hip-hop, but here's a shortlist of my favorite albums thus far:

1. Common - Like Water for Chocolate
2. Nas - Illmatic
3. Outkast - Aquemini
4. Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
5. Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
6. Madvillain - Madvillainy
7. Dr. Dre - The Chronic
8. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

That's all I got, really. The cLOUDDEAD LP that Tago Mago mentioned is really fantastic, but I wouldn't put it up here. Especially because I keep hearing their self-titled is better and I haven't listened to it.

download "Stop Dat" for a taster of the album. It is one of the more Grimey tunes, but the rest of the album is a nice Grime/Hip-Hop/Garage mix up.

Ah I must be confused. I used to think Dr Dre's solo career was more of a big deal before I knew more about Hip Hop. He's still a cold chilling producer, and his lyrics aren't too cheesy, but his rapping aint all that gangster. He'll always be a legend in the game though.

Word, I prefer his beats from back in the day though. I don't think he writes his own lyrics, so cheers to whoever does!

What's on the Special Edition? I hear that Deathrow Record re-releases their entire catalouge every few years because all of the new people on the record label suck ass.

For you, and others, looking to build up a better collection of rap cd's....

I'm not sure if the Joe Pesci album was all rap. I just remember the single, it was called "Wise Guy," I think. To his credit, it was hillarious. "Your mother didn't like me, I didn't give a fuck/ your brother didn't like me so I hit him with a truck...I'm a wise guyyyy."

The Macho Man album is a rap album, and among other topics, he disses Hulk Hogan  and does a tribute song to Kurt Angle, I think. I've only heard bits and pieces of it off of Amazon, don't really want to hear more.

The Macho Man album is a rap album, and among other topics, he disses Hulk Hogan

Hot diggity damn Hulk I'm glad you set it off (set if off)
Used to be hard Hulk now ya done turned soft
Doin' telephone commercials I seen ya
Dancin' in tights as a ballerina
I knew all along you had those tendencies
Cuz you've been runnin' from Macho like I got a disease
Dude please your pay per view event was a joke
You're avoidin' Randy Savage cuz you know you'll get smoked
Come on that phony fight the Rock spanked you fast
But when I challenged Hogan to a real fight he passed
I called him out but the punk was scared to go
It was a charity event but the Hulk didn't show
Hollywood Hulkster you're at the end of your rope
And I'm a kick ya in the butt and wash your mouth out with soap
Cuz like Rodney Dangerfield you gets' no respect
So come on Hulk let's wreck so I can put you in check

Be a man Hulk Come on don't be scared
Your runnin' from Macho that's what I heard

Be a man Hogan Come on don't be a chump
I never thought Hulk would go out like a punk

Be a man Hulk Come on don't be scared
You're runnin' from Macho that's what I heard

Be a man Hogan Boy you's a chump
Cuz Hulk Hogan is a real big punk

They call you Hollywood (hugh hugh) don't make me laugh
Cuz your movies and your actin' skills are both trash
Your movies straight to video the box office can't stand
While I got myself a feature role in Spider Man
Ya hidin' man but when I find you it's on
And when I slam ya to the dirt you'll wish you's never born
I smell a coward mmmm is that you Hogan
Macho's gonna kick ya butt is the slogan
You try to ignore me thinkin' I'll go away
But I'm a keep on messin' wit ya dude day after day
And once you step to Macho you're through
The joke's on you so Hulk what you gonna do
Probably nothing cuz you're a real big punk
You called my dad up on the phone man you's a chump
Cuz if you really got static take it up with me
And I'll punk ya butt out for the world to see
