Im presuming its been released stateside. I was gonna see it, but then found out theres no actual war scees in it, so I dont know if I'll bother. Some, but not all American war films can be quite annoying, you know, overly-focussing on the brotherly love shit, so I hope it has some redeeming features.

I'm going to see it on Friday. That's no use now, but anyway.

It seemed like everyone turned up for work except the director. If it had a point it'd be good. There is one good reason to see it, but admitting that makes me feel very seedy.

The direction was the film's finest portion. Particularly the Boschish raining oil section.

I found it to be a very bleak and depressing movie. It [/i]looked[/i] great. I really loved the visuals, but the story seemed rather empty. I think it was written this way deliberately, so I'll let you judge whether or not you like it.
I read that the author of the book upon which this is based complained that a lot of details were changed in the movie so that the military would look more brutal and stupid. However, as a military guy, this portrayal did not spoil the movie for me.
The scene where all the marines are watching Deer Hunter was great... but I don't want to spoil the surprise!
