I don't know what the fuck it's about, who's in it, whatever...
Go see it. I have a feeling you won't be disappointed. I'm mostly projecting on the amazing efforts of Eli Roth, the director. This guy knows how to make a film.

It's 91% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes right now. That's pretty impressive for a gory horror flick. Looks good.

Alright, so I saw it yesterday. Definitely a Roth movie... lots of retarded, ridiculous humor (as in Cabin Fever). However, I gotta say it was very convincing. I've not seen a horror movie make it to the states and it not cut all to unholy hell. Methinks it is Tarantino that helped this...
It's got a good plot, not over the top (in places it is, but it's Roth... I knew it), and lots of believe it or not goddamn FUNNY moments to balance out the uncomfortable vibes.
If you like tits, and lots of tits, lots of ouch moments... this is it. A little early, but this will most likely be the best horror for '06.
P.S. Try to sit at the start for the trailers to THE HILLS HAVE EYES and WHEN A STRANGER CALLS. I'm mixed on HILLS... the original was about as fun as a bucket of standing water, so it may just be worth a shit as a remake.

If you hated Cabin Fever, you will really love the hell out of this movie.

we just saw a commercial for this. it started a convo on horror movies which ended up at Hostel. I used to be pretty gung-ho about horror movies, but now a days, i don't think i can really handle them. When a stranger calls might be all I could take. haha. :(
anyway...I can't remember why I posted. I'm dizzy. I need to stop coming over here. these guys have too much alcohol for me. :-/

Sold!
I haven't seen this movie, and I have no intention seeing it. I have never been one for horror movies, but if the trailer is any indication, it's 'pushing the envelope' a little too far even by horror film standards. Perhaps if you like sadistic torture, you will jump at the chance to see this, but I personally would likely find this film very disturbing.
Of course, many people disagree with me, as they seem to be going out in droves to see Hostel (it's the number one film in Canada at the moment). Either they don't think it will be disturbing to watch or they thrive on it being as disturbing as possible.

I watched Cabin Fever the other night on CineMax, and I liked it pretty well. 'Cept for when that Dennis kid started doing Kung-Fu. And the "fucking fuck fucking fuckery fuckers" every two seconds was irritating.
Remake of When a Stranger Calls, huh? The first like 15 minutes of the original are some of the best minutes in horror history, man. I wanted to crawl up the wall.

Of the 90 minutes or so of running time, it's got maybe 8 minutes of actual, full-on gore or torture.

That old man in Cabin Fever, Old Man Cadwell? I talked to him on the phone a few weeks ago for like an hour and a half. Such a nice guy.
Sent me a few headshots too and autographed my DVD, even though I didn't ask him to. He told me in confidence that apparently one of the female stars in the movie didn't like him due to him stealing their thunder or whatnot. Funny shit.

yeah. See after talking about it a bit I came to this conclusion
This movie is a little bit about people getting so desensitized to stuff - sex, drugs, that it doesn't affect them anymore. People who watch a lot of horror flicks may also be desensitized by the gore and therefore it doesn't bother them the same way. I mean it is just a movie. But someone who doesn't watch a lot of movies like that - me, for instance - is going to be shocked and disturbed a little too much by this movie.

may I add that this is the first movie I have seen Jay Hernandez in - but I loved watching him. I now have a new star crush or sumpn'.

oh I just wanted to say that I didn't like it mostly because the moments of staisfaction were far outweighed by the time I spend bracing myself like I was in pain and leaving the theater feeling like I did after my root canal - I keep bringing it up because the way I felt really was similar. Jay was cool and all, not saying I couldn't find one or two things I liked but not enough to really justify feeling that way.
But I guess I'm glad I saw it and broadened my horizons. I bet my friend that I saw it with asked me to see it with her because she knew I was more open to different stuff than anyone else she knew, she said no one else would see it with her. All though since I've acted like a total idiot in every movie I've ever seen with her I doubt she'll ever want to see another movie with me but that's another story...
But I see a lot of people liked it...different stuff for different people I guess. My parents think a lot of my music is noise and gives them a headache so I guess everyone has their own opinion.

LOL!
man, joomes, Hostel was so bad. I don't regret seeing it, though, because I love bad shit, but still, I was expecting it to be a lot scarier. Not to say that i didn't close my eyes, 'cuz i did, but i thought it'd be worse. It was pretty sick when that creep was using that fire thing on that chick's face, though. It might've been scarier if i weren't so drunk, though.
The boobs and sex were excessive, though. I spaced out for a few minutes at one point, only to awake to, "I fucked a girl the other night and don't even remember the color of her tits." Yeah, i didn't get over that for a few days.
i'm trying to play that game someone posted. It's hard.

We watched it last night and I don't think I liked it, but I was really drunk so I might watch it again just to give it a fair go. Yar. I don't think we got the unrated one either, 'cause it seemed a bit tamer that I was expecting. It was from Blockbuster though, so it's probably the edited one. :ok:
