So I listened to a lot of records this year. Not as much as last year, where I managed to put together a list of 50, but a lot regardless. I still have to listen to the Edan album, which, from what I've heard about it, may end up becoming my favorite hip hop album of last year. And the M.I.A. album too. And a few thousand metal albums. P.S. Low, Hold Steady, The Books, etc.

Animal Collective's FEELS is my top for '05. It's so god damned great.
Jesu's initial EP is almost as good as the s/t, but the s/t wins it for me.
I really like the 2-disc M83 record, too, but anything else doesn't really come to mind this year. Probably Devandra Bernherdt.

Arcade Fire - Funeral - I just bought this album a few days ago, so I didn't know about it during 2005, but I am completely overwhelmed by it. I love it to death, it makes me feel like a terrible songwriter in comparisson! Everyone should own it.
the Duke Spirit - Cut Across The Land
Qotsa - Lullabyes to Paralyze
Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
NIN- With Teeth
JC Complex - Life Begins Again

SUNG TONGS is great. But that's not what we were talking about, were we? FEELS was one of the best of last year. That's what it's all about.

Well, while I may be a bit predisposed to pump up the spirit wherever I go, I say that in honest critique, as it is really really good. And after finally seeing them live, that album doesn't even do them justice. Plus they dedicated their news songs to me, and I got to pick the encore. Of course, I had to go with my fav "Fades The Sun"...which as it turns out is also Olly/The Kid's favourite!
