I think it's time to put him out to pasture. I mean I couldn't understand half the words he's saying. I love the guy---he's an American icon, but can't we find someone a bit more coherent to represent the U.S. in front of 1 billion people??? I felt sorry for him.

Retire with dignity, Dick!

Oh god, me, too. My boyfriend and i were cracking jokes about how the man may very well have been loaded and that would account for his slur. (Yeah, we know we're awful and going to hell...) Then we realized he'd had a stroke and felt kind of bad.

I agree, though. I was actually scared he was going to die during the festivites, all the excitement would be too much for his heart...oh man. It was so depressing.

Still -- i would rather Dick Clark over Ryan Seacrest (dude, when is he getting his sex change? i thought he was a chick by now.) any day.

My boyfriend said Dick Clark was sad too, but I disagree...I thought it was triumphant that he should return from a stroke to do a national broadcast again, since that is what he really liked to do, obviously, having done it since the BEGINNING OF TIME. :D

Viva Dick Clark! I say more power to him...the slur in his voice in no way reflects his intelligence, ambition or drive to do what he loves. Go him. I love it.

He should have had one of those welfare mothers do the job for him.

Stroke victims as broadcasters? What next, blind guys as airline pilots?
