my friend is talking to me. she cut open her wrists and face and says she is going to kill herself.
I need advice now

Are you on the phone with her? If so, is there another phone you can use to call 911 while keeping her on with you?

Well then just talk to her and try to keep her calm. And find out where she lives.

Do you know anyone else who knows her? Would they know?

Since you're already online, try searching her name on whitepages.com or something.

I tried everything, then got in the car and searched for the house. my psychologist said that as long as someone is willing to talk to you about how they are feeling, that it will be okay (which is why I was trying to find help here, so thanks for being insensitive). I talked to her and she is calm, writing in her journal, etc.

anyway I am leaving the board

I'm sorry you thought any of us (or me) were being insensitive. That was the opposite of how I intended my responses to sound - I was just alarmed and extremely concerned by the whole thing. I hope your friend is okay, sincerely. It sounds like an awful and scary situation.

Although, I still can't fathom what you thought anyone on the Elliott Smith message board would be able to do to help the situation?

If that's your reason for leaving, well... okay. Have a nice 2006.

yeah, i didn't think anyone was trying to come off as insensitive, but then again i didn't really think it was my place to put my two cents' worth in about, either. :ignore:
