Opinions on First Impressions Of Earth?
I am almost through a full listen and I like. I doubt the first album will be topped!

The first album was topped by any band afterwards that released an album.

hah! death's too good for them.
I wish them an eternity of tormented anguish and to be forced to listen to their atrocious music
PS Happy New Year :) :D

I wish someone would take their money from them. They wouldn't know what to do.

I've only heard their whiny "last night" song, that made me want to go after them with a partiularly pointy microphone stand.

To break from the ultra-Strokes-h8, I think they're a mind-fuckingly catchy pop band.
I've heard nothing from the new album, but I'm a bit wary about the whole thing, especially since their most fervent supporters are dropping off single by single.
Regardless, Room on Fire was totally better than Is This It.

I don't think they're that great, never have, never will

I love what I've heard and will pick it up tomorrow with glee. Aaron Bags knows where it's at.
Oh and for those of you criticizing them for being rich boys, get a job yerselves and then I'll buy the anger.

I hated them from the minute I heard New York City Cops. I decided to give them a chance and bought Is This It? which had been getting rave reviews from everywhere. What a waste of money. Just another boring band, on the same level as The White Stripes and The Yeah Yeah Yeah's.

Regardless, Room on Fire was totally better than Is This It. Yep. I thought Room on Fire was wrongly dismissed as 'more of the same' when it was actually a damn good record. I heard some live versions of the new songs and they didn't blow me away. I'm still excited about hearing the new album though - I'll be getting it tonight :-D
I will de-testiculate myself with a rusty potato-peeler, before I voluntarily listen to The Strokes ever again.
