Well. I really didn't like House Of 1000 Corpses, but I gotta admit this did it for me. It was really sadistic stuff (I saw the Unrated DVD mind you), and it really puts the original in a new light... it appears to me, imo, that the original was definitely made to please the higher-ups in command, this being whatever company was to distribute/finance it, while this was what Zombie really wanted to do.
It's full of gruesome shit, stuff that even I haven't seen in horror in a long while. Yeah, there's a good amount of overacting, but it was expected.
The southern rock soundtrack kicked ass (it opens with Midnight Runner in the opening credits, had me laughing my ass off and it even ended with FREE BIRD), plus it had the obligatory rips on Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and the sequel! if you can believe the balls there), plus homages to The Shining and the Manson family.
If you hated Corpses, you'd dig this.
