It's been a slow year for the Film Board.

I can;t see this thread making much difference. But you know what? I couldnt give a fuck! Here is my recommendation for a film you probably haven;t seen in the gangster genre:

Gangster No. 1

possibly the angriest film in the world. you'll see what I mean if you watch it.

And my all time favourite is still probably Scarface. "I kill a Communist fo' fun, but fo' a green card, I'm go'n carve 'im up real nice"

I would say Mean Streets, but since a large chunk of what I thought was Mean Streets turned out to actually be in Goodfellas (the whole "am I a funny clown" bit, yes I know that isn't right but I'm sure people know which part I'm referring to) I'll say that instead, or The Godfather. Or Bugsy Malone if I can sneak it in.

Well, the Godfather flicks.

And The Usual Suspects.

And Reservoir Dogs.

As for the newer ones, I also think Road to Perdition is exceptional as well. Though, that one uses organized crime to illustrate the nature of the bond between a father and his son. (The scene where they both come home to find... well... what they find is, like, wow. Tom Hanks is the man.)

I don't know what my favorite is, but Donnie Brasco is a seriously overlooked movie.

I really don't like Bugsy Malone, it's creepy.

Creepy how? The Jodie Foster femme fatale thing?

Small children make me nervous at the best of times.

Surely you're not afraid of Chachi? We did Bugsy Malone at primary school, it was ace, we had real splurge guns and everything. There was rubbish continuity though, the girl who played Blousey got tonsilitis so for her solo songs they wheeled me out.

Why didn't you just play her? Was it because you were painful to look at? The biggest part I got in a school play was an evil policeman in some story about Barnado's.

What do you mean by that, you cheeky scamp? I did have to learn the whole thing in one afternoon but since she could still talk by the evening she did those bits.

I was merely trying to work out why they didn't give you the part if she couldn't do it proper like.

I'd like to point out that I was the evil policeman, oh yes.

I've got a bit of a police uniform, but I'm not allowed to wear it in public.

Fab

is it a peephole bra?

ramblingrose

No, it's a real police jumper. There's a bit to put radios in and everything!

Fab

Shame, I'd love it if there were an official police peephole bra, nearly as much as I love the fact that there's a medical device soley designed to measure penises.

Maybe you could write to them and suggest it? The police jumper is quite sexy though.

Godfather 1 & 2 hands down.

Godfather 2 had, for my money, the best closing scene ever. That final shot of Michael was just great.
