Uhm... so yeah I did this thread once before but I forgot what people said, and also now I have high-speed internet, so.... yar. What are everyone's favourite zombie films? I used to have a little collection going back in the VHS days, but after moving country and DVD and all, it's just like the Romero films and Shaun Of The Dead.
Kay.... go!

Of course I'm a huge Romero fan. Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition rules. I love every part of the Dead series as my own rotten step children. Bub loves you, Dr. Frankenstein.
Shaun of the Dead is of course awesome and fun and funny and good times.
So is Zombi, or Zombie or whatever the people refer to it as. Why are Italians so into Zombies?
Mark, I know yer McCarthyisms can answer that.

Though it was pretty crap in general, there was this one scene in Resident Evil 2 that had me and my friend cracking up for ages (we were pretty high though). Involves this crackhead black dude and some zombie woman with her tits out.
Never mind!

28 Days Later!
actually, i think that's the ONLY zombie movie i've seen, apart from one of those romero films, i don't remember which one.... i think it had the word "dead" in the title.... i didn't very much enjoy it...
Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetary Man in the US). Italian so avoid if you don't like subtitles. The US version (since they're often fat, lazy bastards there) may be dubbed I'm not sure. It's a comedy movie, more in the vein of 'Shaun of the Dead' but not as good. Worth watching if only to see Anna Falchi naked ;)
I used to love Romero's movies, but they don't quite seem as good after the birth of the "broadband zombie", as seen in 28DL and the remake of Dawn. They're still funny as fuck after a few beers and a spliff though, perhaps more realistic too if you can describe any of these movies in that way. These new, fast zombies are actually kinda scary though, or at least would be if you could picture a real-life scenario.
Oh and I almost forgot (another thread title just reminded me)... Peter Jackson's 'Braindead'!!!! One of the best. There's an Aussie zombie movie I forget the title of too, that's not bad. A bit different from your usual ones I'll go find it.
The Aussie one's called 'Undead'. Come to think of it I think 'Braindead' may be Aussie too, either there or New Zealand since Peter Jackson's a Kiwi.

The zombies/mutants in 28 Days later are the ones I would least like after me. They look like abunch of football hooligans after their team just lost 6 - 0 and you just insulted all their mothers.
Fuck that. That film is beautiful though man. The long shots over deserted london is great. They couldnt even shut the roads off like they do in America, had to do it at about 4am or something werent it? I forget......

You guys, I bought that Unrated version of Land Of The Dead yesterday and it is pretty rockin'. It's been a loooooong time since I saw a film that was so gory it actually made me go "Woah..."
Plus George Romero has the best glasses ever.

Yeah, I got it yesterday, too, and it's the shit. Unfortunately, I'm a moron and accidentally bought the Full Screen.
I loved the "When Shaun Met George" thing. It was so cute.

I'm fairly certain Braindead was filmed in Auckland, with NZ actors. Peter Jackson's so damned patriotic (maybe that's not the right term) that he'll probably never film anywhere else.
28 Days Later is my favourite zombie film by miles. I was blown away when I saw it the first time - the soundtrack, the scenery, the scary zombie things. The only part I didn't 100% like was when they went to that military base near the end. I think it would have been more interesting if they'd gone into the city by themselves, or something.

I thought Zombie Flesh Eaters was actually okay, but it's a long long time since I saw it. It's not really got anything at all to do with zombies but I thought Cannibal Ferox was rubbish. Just vaguely on the subject of dodgy horror films.

I'm getting hold of Cemetary Man, and some Japanese zombie movies which could well turn out to be absolute rubbish. They are called Versus, Wild Zero and Biozombie. I will let you know.

I would like to see a Japanese zombie film. The title "Biozombie" threatens greatness.

I just looked it up and it's actually Chinese (doh) but the plot definitely fills me with hope....
Hong Kong's answer to George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead. A soft drink tainted with bio-chemicals has the power to turn people into flesh-eating zombies. A man drinks from the bottle, and wanders into the night. As two young VCD sellers (Woody Invincible and Crazy Bee) from a local mall are returning to the mall with their bosses' car, they hit the man. Unsure of what to do, they bring the man back to the mall with them. The mall closes, and soon there are zombies everywhere! A small group of mall employees must bond together to try and fight their way out.
The main character is called Woody Invincible!

This is apparently the plot to Wild Zero...
After a meteor strike aliens attack the earth and begin turning people into zombies. Rockers Guitar Wolf, Bass Wolf and Drum Wolf as well as their rock and roll blood brother Ace and his true love Tobio are caught in the middle of this madness.
...I think I might be onto a winner here.

Okay.... to give you an idea of what is going on in this movie, here is how it begins.
First off, a meteor hits the Earth followed by an assload of flying saucers, but this is pretty much incidental. The first scene is about a Japanese Rock & Roll Leather band. They play their song. These are the lyrics...
"Tension suddenly outer spacy,
There's a wallet on my ass
with a Rock n' Roll license."
The song totally kicks ass. Oh yeah, and later on the singer has a microphone that shoots fire when he sings into it. Behold...
http://www.deedtheinky.com/temp/wz01.jpg
After they play their song they go and see the manager of the club. He is a dick so they shoot him, and some other guy who just happens to be there as well. They are saved by a kid named Ace, and the band's singer gives him a magic whistle. They ride off to the next gig on motorbikes, which also shoot fire.
Now, bear in mind that this is like the first five minutes of the film. After this, a zombie holocaust happens.
**Spoilers**
I don't want to give too much away, but here are some other things you will see in this film that are probably not in any other movie...
1. Somebody gets evaporated.
2. Guitar Wolf can literally kill someone with awesomeness.
3. Someone stops and asks a zombie for directions. Rather than eating him, the zombie actually tells him where to go. In fact, the zombie is so handy that the guy picks it up and crams it into the boot of his car in case he gets lost again.
4. A zombie destroys a UFO with laser beams that it shoots from it's eyes.
***No more spoilers.***
And I still have at least 2 more Japanese zombie movies to go. But I have to admit, the bar has been set pretty damn high.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST FILM EVER. I'm going to ring my friend right now, as he is at the house of an exbf of mine who is a horror obsessive and may have this film so I can borrow it.
I must see someone being literally killed with awesomeness!!!

Hahaha, Millwall fans or speedy zombies. I dunno what's worse. The shots for 28DL were done early in the morning aye, they had to ask people coming back from clubs to wait around the corner and shit. They must've got some places closed off though, like for the bus shot etc.

I thought that might be the case. Need to get myself a copy of it, been a while since I last saw it.
Yeah the second half was a bit shite in comparison, not enough zombies. I'd have rather seen the mansion get overrun, like in the outtakes. The bit where the soldier gets his eyes gouged out was fucking cool though.

I haven't seen that one, but I saw Cannibal Holocaust, which was a pile of shit. I couldn't be arsed to get Ferox after that, I gathered it's the same kinda cheap load-of-egg movie.

That was was kinda amusing in ways, but I didn't find it very watchable. I only got half the way through it. As far as tacky Asian zombie movies go, I found SARS Wars much more enjoyable. I highly recommend it to lovers of Asian cinema and cheap but funny horror.

I didn't think it was realy anything like Evil Dead, but yeah it's an Aussie movie. Wasn't bad, but wasn't that good either from what I remember. T'was different from most zombie movies though.
The only zombie movie I've seen lately was 'Land of the Dead', which was kinda disappointing. A typical Romero movie, with the exception of being arse-raped by Hollywood :/ Lotsa gay-arse shit going on, that never really happened in his old films.
