View Full Version : Man, I am fucking addicted to Bit Torrent

Hi There, Am Pam

Ever since I got an iPod, I've been burning all the old concerts I had never gotten around to burning before. Now I'm taking the best of those and putting them on my iPod, making half my music made out of really awesome concerts.

Right now, I'm listening to a top notch Morphine recording from Norway. Best part is, it's a fucking soundboard recording! I wasn't aware there was any decent Morphine out there, let alone a soundboard. I've always wanted to hear what they sounded like live.

Other highlights include a local Tool show, an XFM Radiohead concert which was a jaw-dropping performance, RHCP from Hyde Park, Pearl Jam's semi-famous Orpheum theater, and more I can't recall.

I love it when there is a whole chest of new music to explore. I am one happy music fan. With so much awesome live music, I don't understand how people listen to the radio. Anyone else collect concerts? What gems have found?

Generally I dislike torrents (hence my direct download site). But eh, as long as none of the files are corrupt and there's enough seeders out there they're ok.

What do you dislike about them? The only downside, as with any P2P, is the reliablity of the people's computers that you're downloading from. It's frustraiting when you have 98% of the show, and everyone quits.

That, and I've downloaded I think 4 shows that had a couple corrupted tracks.

Let me know what you think of it.

I only get corrupt files now & again, but it is frustriating when it happens.

I tend to go in cycles with downloading stuff. It's a lot of work to burn the CD, label it, make sure the CD-text is correct, and enter it in iTunes if I want a digital copy of it.

i trade bootlegs (see sig) and it's always nice to discover a nice, clean and clear recording.

or a good concert where they play a rarity or two.

Well, I'm currently listening to 'Mission of Dead Souls', Throbbing Gristle's final live performance, and I have to say, it's quite... uh... difficult. 'Live 81-82' by The Birthday Party is absolutly brutal though. Fantastic stuff.

Let me know what you think of it. Well, I've been downloading this for two straight days and I'm at 98%, and if it drops to 0 kbps one more time, I'm pulling SOMEONE'S hair out.

Probably my own. GAR. Thank God it'll be worth the wait.

Another fantastic Radiohead show was 10/06/03, in Atlanta, GA.

It was broadcasted on 92/93?X, unedited. Well, it was tampered with to an extent... after every song there's a radio station ID in it. Frustrating. But seeing as how I saw this show, with two other people on this forum, and have it recorded... it's nothing short of clear bliss (soundboard).

Try to find it or trade for it... the opening track is great (The Gloaming). Thom Yorke goes "I'm scared" over and over and Jon Greenwood lets out some sort of improv hi-fi bass dubs, ala Tino Music Corp. Fucking great.

I promise you'll be impressed

I can't download at work and I'm not sure if the downloadable versions from the links are video or audio (or one of each), but if you get the video version, they zoom right in on me during "Dr. Rock"

Let me know what you think of it. Well, it finished sometime during the night and I started listening to it today, and WOW.

My copy of "I Will" is sorta fucked up, though.

WOAH, weird, I didn't realize this was a different Radiohead XFM concert than the one I already have (mine is 11/27, this is 11/26). That's awesome!

Anyway, download the one I was talking about here (http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=7773).

I'm not sure what you mean by "clicks".

Barbara, I'll try downloading that show later. I have to create a user account, and I have a chem lab I have to go to soon. Then Bio, and later a 2.5 hour long Opera course. Tuesdays suck for me.

The guy who audiotaped that is the biggest douche ever. He didn't seed, nor trade it, until exactly a year after he recorded it due to "anticipation". He should get fucked in the ass... I think his name is G. Rich Little, but I can't remember...

It was so annoying that I deleted the show.

you mean the guy who made the DVD? Well, I dunno who it was...the person who sent me the DVD version in the mail was jimmycrow on the ween forum. I think eyeh8ewe (also from the ween forum) was also involved with either the taping or the making of the DVD. I am not sure who the audio taper was, but yeah most of the ween shows get vined out and put on browntracker as soon as the person can get them up there. So it does suck that they waited for bullshit reasons...

...however, the person who worked on the DVD did a very good job...very professional looking, same camera as the tape you sent me a long time ago. It has title menus, cover booklet, track listing and ability to choose single tracks from the menu and everything. Since the ween forum is all about trading of music, and I ended up with a free DVD version of this show, I vined out my tape copy you sent me to a guy in Canada who was a tad bitter that he didn't get in on the giveaway in time, so I told him I'd send him a VHS version cause I'm a nice gal like that ;) but it was very cool that you sent me that tape only a few months after the show when I think you said you weren't even at that show!! How did you get a copy of it? I can't remember if you already told me. I'm guessing you knew someone who taped it. Thanks again :-o Hopefully canada guy will appreciate the tape as much as I did, I played it so many times while I had it that my VCR started to hate it and almost ate the tape, thankfully I rescued it in time

I see what you mean, now that I made it all the way through. It's a shame really, it was a nice concert. The other XFM one is better though.

I've always wondered how corrupt files in Bittorrent start. Is it from the person making the torrent? The original encoding to loseless files? When it's downloading? Either way, it sucks ass.

No, it was the guy who taped it on minidisc, at the Blue Note. He's a pure faggot, I get his intentions if he squatted on it but not his reasoning.

Nice to know that people are making DVDr copies of it... I'd make the only show I ever taped (Ministry) on DVDr again but I want to wait until discs go beyond 4 gigs of space. Yeah, I'm a sucker. Glad you liked the tape... I got it from someone who traded it weeks after, I traded Ween shows and something else for it. I'm just glad you watched it, no one really listens/watches anything I send them (even though I am awesome).
