I'm going to see Iron Maidan tomorrow night for the first time! Actually I 'm ashamed to say I only started listening to them the last two weeks...The best of the beast... and I have to say, all these years I've been deprived!Excellant riffs-can anyone tell me the best album to pick up ?

check out Powerslave and Live After Death. the live album has a lot of cool songs. oh, and Piece Of Mind is a good one, too.

i really like "Brave New World"
I have the Iron Maiden - Rock in Rio DVD, it's one of the best live dvds I have. It's got a great variety of their stuff, a ton of the brave new world songs, lots of their classics and it's got excellent quality. they put on an amazing show for being old farts. ;D

Always been an incredible band, with the best solos ever.
Check out the first two, "Iron Maiden" and "Killers"

i have all of them, and i recommend
iron maiden (ie first one) . got some absolute classics like phantom of the opera, iron maiden (the song), transylvania.
killers: also very good, still with their old drummer. wrathchild and killers recommended
powerslave is my favourite i would say, practically all songs are very good. this is with bruce dickinson as singer.
somewhere in time also highly recommended.
then make a huge gap, skip the buzz singer guy (was that the name of the guy that replaced dickinson?) and go to brave ne world, which is the reunion of the old line up plus that third guy whos name escapes me (got some german sounding name).
anyway yeah iron maiden, i actually only really enjoy about 1/3 of their material, but when u consider they have 10+ albums .... thats a lot of songs !

Blaze Bayley replaced Dickinson, he used to be in a band called Wolfsbane.
I think youre thinking of Janick Gers who joined them when Adrian Smith left after "Seventh Son..." (another highly recommended album) in 1988.
As far as I recall, the reformation had Bruce back on vocals, Nicko, Arry and the three guitarists, Janick, Davey, and Adrian.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Blaze at all. I particularly love 'Man on the edge' which sounds great with his voice.
