HOLY SHIT. You are the only other person that I know now that listens to Opeth. I found their DVD a while back at Hot Topic for like $9.99! I cannot really get into their vocals on the heavier material, IMO. But, they are some of the most talented & technical musicians I have ever heard.

*edit* I only have Damnation, btw.

At first I couldn't swallow the hard vocals either. Buy Blackwater Park. Listen to it until you're numb to the vocals, then repeat. It sounds crazy, but I swear to you, you will never go back. You know how you first tried beer, or coffee, or anything else that's an acquired taste? It was nasty! But over time, it's delicious, and you don't know how you lived without it. This is the same thing. Blackwater park is the initiation, and most accessible growling record they've made IMO. After this, goto My Arms Yor hears...... Ooooh maaaaaan.... It gets no better.

All right, I take your word. Take mine & go listen to Staple. You won't be dissapointed. They are a heavy Christian band, but if you didn't know this you would not have any idea. I say them play in Dallas & felt like I had gotten my ass kicked after the show was over.

You're bringing tears to my eyes brotha. I mean no offense, but anything in the ballpark of "christian" makes me cringe.

There's a christian metal band you may be into from the 80's that recent had a reunion I believe, you should check them out. They were called "STRYPER".

I heard they used to be awesome live, back in the 80's/early 90's. I don't really like the new stuff, The System Has Failed, or whatever it was called.

ummm, no.

They are a really 'tight' sounding band both live and studio. I was talkign more about the music itself rather than the singing. Vocals on the quiet material are nice, just on the loud it's ....ugh, why am I justifing this to you.

With my remaining money i bought the Arcade Fire EP, the Donnie Darko Sdtk, and the newest White Stripes album, which is absolutely bitchin' for the first 7 tracks and loses its steam IMO.

Those are them alright. The contract wasn't part of their prize though Epic came knocking a bit later - They're not signed to them anymore though, and Cory and dominic (Guitarist and Drummer respectively), are not in the band now.

Interestingly, Flickerstick the only band off that show that's still together if I'm right - Soulcracker and Josh Dodes Band fell apart, have no idea what happened to Harlow.

Anyway, Tarantula is brilliant - Less Poppy than "Welcoming Home the Astronauts"
