Altho, we call it autumn here!

Bright Eyes Announce Fall U.S. Tour
Jessica Suarez reports:
Another season, another Bright Eyes tour. This autumn, as the weather turns chilly, warm your broken heart by the light of Conor Oberst’s smile and tortured indie-folk dirges. Fresh off a tour in Europe that included a climactic performance at the Glastonbury festival (he insulted John Peel’s memory and made out with Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls—who happened to be completely naked), the Sad-Eyed Poet of the Lowlands will embark on a month-long trek across these here United States. This time he'll be backed up by a “traditional Bright Eyes lineup”, according to a press release and will be “blending material from all of the stunning Bright Eyes releases to date”. English, Scottish and Canadian friends Magic Numbers, Sons & Daughters and Feist will be sharing opening duties, and Spoon will join Oberst and co. for a hometown gig in Omaha on November 11. Who wrote the email? Surely not Thomas, he's lovely and would never use such language. He rang me up once.

I don't remember who it was actually, might still be in my emails but I doubt it. Wasn't Jeff neither.

He didn't seem like he wanted any sex. He doesn't send me any free stuff either, apart from a load of Cursive badges once. He likes you better! It was a bit embarassing because the conversation concerned breasts. He was really polite and sweet though.

why was he calling you again?

oh my, I just checked my audioscrobbler page and apparently Bright Eyes is only my 21st most played artist! He's even behind Broken Spindles! Probably not overall though, since it doesn't take into account stuff I listen to on my iPod.

It was to do with a Rilo Kiley shirt, they only had really small ones and I was concerned my bosoms wouldn't go in them (they do). I told him it was for "a friend" though.
I can't get to grips with Audioscrobbler because I'm a retard.

it took me so long to work it out, and when I did I found out it had been logging my stuff for months because I'd tried to install it but thought it hadn't worked when it had.

glad to hear about your bosoms

saw him last night and I pushed my way to the 2nd row haha. The show was pretty good. I liked how he started off the show. It started off with harp being played very softly and beautifully and then after about a minute of this it kicked into sunrise sunset. For the encore he did "Lets not shit ourselves" and the place was going pretty crasy.

Conor will never play in the UK?
or do you mean M Ward, Jim and Conor as a three piece will never play in the UK?

I don't often post here, but I just got back from the Concord, NH show and I thought I'd post a list of what I remember (in no order)

Sunrise, Sunset
The Calendar Hung Itself
Old Soul Song
Lua
Something Vague
Gold Mine Gutted
Napoleon's Hat
Bowl of Oranges
You Will
Falling Out of Love at This Volume
And a few others I can't remember

Encore:
First Day of My Life
True Blue
Lets not Shit Ourselves

He also did a rap, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Feist was amazing too.

Oh, and they did the Harp thing when I saw them last year in Manchester, it was kinda funny though because they were just about to get it going properly when they realised that Conor's guitar wasn't making any noise. I say funny... maybe you had to be there :darn:

That was a great gig indeed. He didn't walk right past me at that one but I did have a rather embarrassing moment at the met where my friend tried to make me go talk to him and I fell over a load of chairs and he looked at me all sympathetically, and then I fell over a load more chairs in my haste to get away. That's not the Conor story I'd like to be able to tell but it's the true one.:-o

Fab

He's TINY! I was 15 at the time (now you feel ancient, yes?) and he was smaller than me! At least he'll probably remember you and not in the way he remembers who who to avoid.

I was trying to convey disappointment at Conor's lack of height (not that I'm heightist but anyway), horror at my ancientness and double horror that he might one day tap me on the shoulder and say "you're that stupid idiot who fell over a load of chairs, oh and by the way you are SO OLD and you're not so tall yourself."

Fab
11-28-2005, 12:57 PM
I'm sure he found your lack of coordination endearing.

He did look quite amused, once he'd stopped looking concerned.

Oh, I was there on opening night and I wanted to come and share about it but I lost my blammo password and found it this morning!!

Dear god was it wonderful..... (the show not the password)

After he played The Calender Hung itself I yelled out "thank you!" and he looked right at me and whispered "You're welcome" into the microphone. It was unexpected, definetely.

Fab

my guess would be around 5'7", certainly less than 5'10"

I'd agree, he's about the same size as my dad.
