Are there any movies that you just won't watch because you fear the content? And I'm not talking about shitty movies that you fear will be shitty.
I recently read a BFI article about that film Salo: 120 Days of Sodom, and I'm really intrigued, but I fear being disgusted or disturbed by the content.

It is nasty, but not as bad as you're probably working it up in your heads, really, for what you see around now. I thought it was brilliant satire and certainly a memorable experience, one of those movies in a world of its own. That said, I never watched it again.

Irreversible, I heard loads about this and that you get to see a guy get his skull bashed in very graphically and then a ten minute rape and beating scene, not too hot on seeing all that but I'm still curious about the movie.
I haven't seen Salo or night porter, I have seen Happiness. I didn't really like it...not because it was too disturbing, it was sorta disturbing but not really that bad, it was just so incredibly depressing and seemed to have no point except wallowing in its own misery. I know a lot of people who liked this movie will disagree with me.

I am one of the few who owns the legit Criterion copy of Salo, and am willing to state I bought it solely for the artistic value and not the resale value.
Upon viewing it, I believe I now feel it's the other way around.
I have always enjoyed the story of the 120 Days Of Sodom by de Sade, it was the closest thing you could get to the novel American Psycho in those days... but the film is really more of a showpiece, a movie-night experience for those who are gung-ho about "art" and maybe even dick-sucking, not necessarily in that order.
That being said... I feel fortunate in owning it, and look forward to selling it at an outlandish price than what I paid for it ($63 USD), probably for something grown-up and more realistic... like hospital bills.

How'd you manage to get it so cheap, James?
Are there any good extras on the Criterion version?
