you hear 30 seconds of a 32kbps wma file and you conclude they totally ruined it?
anyone know the names of all the songs Billy co-wrote, or did he co-do the whole album?

Billy should have kept the song for himself.
Here (http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0VT954VFZ5LSS3IFIT4OK48JDB)'s the whole thing, it's not horrible, it's certainly not as good though. It sounds slightly Alice in Chains actually. Alice in Chains crossed with Incubus.

Damn, I really loved this song when Billy played it. I was hoping he was gonna release it himself sometime.
It's not that bad though.

i posted the bc version on a taproot board and Jarrod from taproot had this to say -
Haha, that's cool that this is out there! That was Billy playing us the song for the first time. Very cool that you guys get to hear where the song came from and how we made it a Taproot song.

I had no idea that was the song that Billy wrote for Taproot. I wouldn't have wasted my time downloading it. It's a cool song, but even cooler with the video.

Why does Billy only help awful bands?
Hole, Breaking Benjamin, Taproot....ugghhhh

Uh, Hole's actually a good band (at least they released 2 good albums, "Live Through This" being one of the best of the 1990s), New Order's a great band, and Marianne Faithful is the Mother of God as far as I'm concerned.
Berlin's all right too.
Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone with your strong opinions concerning the wonderful FutureEmbrace record to like New Order, Marianne Faithful, or Berlin.

I like Celebrity Skin. I really love the harmonies, which is weird.
And I wish Marianne Faithful was my mother.

In a really subtle way, you're saying you wish you were God.

The one thing about this song that I enjoy more than Billy's version is the fact that the people at the Taproot board were freaking out in one thread about how it wasn't a Taproot song and how Taproot needed to "come out on top" and make their own songs, and not be forced to play Billy Corgan songs or something of that nature. The drummer guy made a post that essentially said that Taproot took Corgan's song and made it into their own, to which they celebrated as if the collaboration between Corgan and Taproot was actually a struggle for the lively up and coming band to come out on top with their songs, their dreams, and their vision.
They did make it their own, I'll give them that, but it just doesn't stand up to Corgan's. Not to get involved in any kind of feud or anything.

I don't think they ruined it. You can defitnatly hear the Corgan influence on the album. Especially track 5 "Calling" sounds too much like "Riverview" Just my two cents.

I got bored so I tried to transcribe the lyrics to the Corgan version and the Taproot version to compare them, since Taproot changed alot of the lyrics. Corgan's lyrics were hard to hear in places, so I have no idea if all of them are right.
BILLY CORGAN VERSION
tonight i'm thinkin' once again
tonight i'm thinkin' slow
all i, i wanted was out again
all i,i wanna go
tonight you leave again
tonight you leave alone
i walk closer again
to truth i can't forget
my heart isn't alive
i see, i get so close
to fate i can't erase
to love but i get so lost
tonight i'm thinkin' out again
tonight i'm thinkin' slow
all i, i wanted hurts again
all i , i wanna go
tonight i leave for good
tonight i leave alone
i walk closer again
to truth i can't forget
my heart isn't alive
i see closer again
to fate i can't forget
my heart isn't alive
tonight you leave
tonight you leave alone
i walk closer again
to truth i can't forget
my heart isn't alive
i see closer again
to fate i can't betray
my love isn't enough
see could be sing, or say..but I think it's see. Not sure about that last line either.
TAPROOT VERSION
tonight i'm freakin' out again
tonight i'm thinkin' so low
all i wanted was a friend
all i have got is no one
tonight i'll sleep alone
i won't sleep at all
my heart isn't alive
right now i'm sinkin' further down
right now i'm breakin' inside
a long drive to see you lie in bed
a long ride ????
tonight i'll stay with you
and i will get us through
my heart ripped from my chest
too late i hope not for this
my heart isn't alive
nauseous preparing for the worst
cautious repairing open wounds
yet somehow believing in the chance
it'll turn out to be another test
and you'll come back again
my heart ripped from my chest
too late, i hope not for this
my heart isn't alive
my arms carry the weight
two hands folded yet straight
my arms closed in a prayer
for you
lost in the woods
they say
to me
right now i'm sinkin' further down
right now i'm breakin' inside
my heart ripped from my chest
too late, i hope not for this
my heart isn't alive
my heart ripped from my chest
too late i hope not for this
my heart isn't alive
my arms carry the weight
two hands folded yet straight
my arms closed in a prayer
for you
prayer for you
tonight i'll stay with you
Not sure if it's "two hands folded yet straight" and there was one line that I couldn't hear at all.

Yeah, so do I! I thought maybe Billy would let MADM sing with the Pumpkins... but I guess not.
